Back when I first learned about whorls, I made it a conscious effort to notice my horses' whorls and see if there was any truth to it all.
I really think there is, and honestly it makes sense that how a horse is formed embryologically would affect their characteristics.
In whorlology it states that horses with double side by side whorls are very smart and athletic, but sometimes challenging to work with. Research has also stated that double whorl horses are found at double the average rate in top tier equine athletic sports such as jumping and racing. Kind fun!
Here are a few of our double whorl horses. All 5 of these were bred and born at Heart of the Valley Performance Horses.
We have a pretty high ratio of producing these.... 4/5 are Clever Declan's get or grand get, but he himself did not have double whorls. Additionally, these horses all have different dams. Only one of the dams has a double whorl and that's Midnight Maggie who happened to be an amazing race horse!! The grulla is unrelated and neither parent has double whorls.
All just kinda fun gee-whiz info for your Sunday afternoon!
