"Why kennel train your dog?"
A question I get often with so many benefits. A lot of people are working towards the goal of trusting their dog out of the kennel while they are out of the house and I ask "why?" And I'm sure everyone knows the answers I recieve the truth is it's a very high possibility that your dog if not properly kennel trained is tired, and if your working through behavioral issues you will notice a decline in progression or a platue because they aren't getting enough sleep. Wolves, your dogs ancestor, have an opposite sleep schedule of us meaning they sleep 16hrs a day and spend the other 8 foraging, hunting, stalking, walking, you name it. Your dog should be structured similar
The pros of kennel training
Safe place for dog to rest and get quality sleep
Management for dogs that get overstimulated with guests
Can ease stress and anxiety for dog and owner
The list goes on and on
Cons
None, except for improper kennel training where your dog becomes an escape artist and starts destroying things and hurting themselves, they get restless nights and you think the only option is to let them out and get back into bed with, and last but not least the constant barking and howling
Moral of the story, give your dog a better life by giving them a safe place, if you have a long day and want nothing more than to go to your room and relax from the outside world why not teach your dog they can do it too?
Don't do what I did when I first got a dog and expect them to be fine with a kennel and have to buy better and stronger kennels that they still destroy, kennel train your dog and see the change.
