When you bring a pet to a shelter because you're sick of him abusing you...
Or preventing you from going on holiday... don't try to speak it well for yourself then. He's just sitting there waiting. He’s waiting for you to come get him and bring him home. He's been waiting for seconds, minutes, hours, days, years...
He doesn't know why you're not coming back, but he's waiting for you because he trusts you 💔 Because unlike you, he loves you forever...

Taking a pet is no joke! Think twice before adopting one... ❤️🐾❤️

Switzerland has taken a notable step in animal welfare by banning the practice of shredding (macerating) male chicks alive in the egg industry. The decision was driven by ethical concerns, with lawmakers stating that killing conscious animals in this way could not be justified, even for economic reasons.

It’s important to be clear about what this change does and does not mean.

This ban specifically targets one of the most controversial methods used to kill male chicks shortly after hatching. In Switzerland, the practice of shredding was already uncommon before the law came into force, but the legislation made it officially illegal, removing any remaining legal loopholes.

However, this does not mean that all male chick killing has ended in the country. Male chicks, who cannot lay eggs and are not typically raised for meat, are still euthanized using other methods that remain legal under current regulations. The underlying economic structure of the egg industry has not fully changed yet.

At the same time, Switzerland and several other European countries are investing in alternatives, such as technologies that can determine a chick’s s*x before hatching, so males are never born into the system at all. These approaches are still being scaled and are not yet universal.

So while this move does not end the broader issue, it sets a clear ethical boundary: some practices are no longer acceptable, even if they are efficient or profitable.

Whether this is a symbolic step or a meaningful turning point depends on what comes next — and whether systems evolve to reduce or eliminate the need for killing male chicks altogether.

A Man Who Searches Online for Animals to Rescue or Rehome Faces Felony Cruelty Charges

Authorities in Caldwell County have arrested Holden Miller of Lenoir after a disturbing case of animal neglect. Miller is charged with felony animal cruelty and is currently held in the Caldwell County Detention Center with no bond.

The investigation began when a tip was received that Miller had a horse tied to a tree behind his home. Officers discovered the animal about 70 yards into a wooded area without food or water, severely emaciated, and in need of immediate care. The horse and several other animals were seized, but despite treatment, the horse died.

This is not the first time Miller has faced charges. In April 2025, he was charged with three counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty, followed by another count in June 2025. Since April, authorities say nearly 170 animals have been seized from Miller’s control.

Investigators have reported that Miller actively hunts social media platforms and online marketplaces to acquire animals, often under the guise of rescue or rehoming.

⚠️ Public Advisory:
Do NOT sell, rehome, or gift any type of animal to Miller.

It’s been 67 years since she was sent into space.
People don’t really talk about it anymore — but I think we should.
Not because I’m a scientist, but because what happened still matters.

Laika wasn’t just a dog in a rocket.
She was a gentle soul, full of trust.
Her real name was Kudrjavka, meaning “curly” in Russian.
But the world came to know her as Laika — the little barker.

She was a stray from the streets of Moscow, chosen because she was calm and had survived hardship.
As if enduring pain somehow made her more fit for a journey with no return.

On November 3rd, 1957, she was launched aboard Sputnik 2.
The capsule had food, water, padded walls — but no way home.
From the beginning, it was never meant to bring her back.

Some say she lived seven hours. Others say a few days.
Either way, she spent her last moments alone, weightless and silent —
not knowing why she was there, only that the Earth she knew was slipping away.

She orbited the planet 2,570 times before her capsule burned up the following April.

Laika didn’t choose any of this.
She didn’t volunteer to stand for science, progress, or the space race.
She was just a dog — a small, trusting creature who wanted warmth and affection —
and instead became a symbol.

That’s why I still remember her.
Because not all progress is kind.
And not every breakthrough is made the right way.

Laika’s story reminds us to ask better questions —
to wonder who pays the price for our achievements

IT’S OFFICIAL! Governor Kemp signed HB 331 into law yesterday with an effective date of July 1, 2025 (official photo coming soon). The law prohibits the sale or barter of dogs, cats, and domestic rabbits in unregulated and outdoor locations such as parking lots, sidewalks, roadsides, parks, and seasonal flea markets. The bill’s intent is to help curtail reckless backyard breeding by reducing opportunities for illicit pet sales to occur. A similar measure has been passed as a local ordinance in 11 jurisdictions to date which fully prohibit pet sales at any flea market. Stay tuned for more information and forthcoming FAQ to share with the public and law enforcement.

A very special thank you to the following lawmakers for their sponsorship of HB 331: State Representatives Beth Camp, Joseph Gullett, Leesa Hagan, Mike Cameron, Kimberly New, and Sharon Cooper and State Senator Lee Anderson. Appreciation is also extended to Professor Lisa Milot of the UGA School of Law for drafting the bill and local ordinances and testifying at hearings, and to Debra Berger (former State Director for Humane World for Animals) for her earlier work to pioneer the policy in Georgia.

“HUMANE SLAUGHTER” = THE BIGGEST MYTHS ON THE PLANET!
🐄🐄🐄🐖🐖🦃🦃🐓🐓🐄🐄🐖🐖🐂🐂🦃🦃🐄🐄

Below are testimonies from slaughterhouse inspectors of certified 'humane' slaughterhouses:

"He's been skinned all the way to his head. His legs have been cut off... and he's still conscious. Imagine being hit on the head, dazed but fully conscious. One of your legs is chained. You're hoisted upside down ... Workers open the hide on the legs, the stomach, the neck. They cut off the feet while the cow is breathing. It makes noise. It's looking around. Their eyes look like they are popping out. I feel bad that I have to do my job on them..." - From sworn testimony of slaughterhouse workers in the US

A veteran USDA slaughterhouse inspector from Texas describes what he has seen: "Cattle dragged and choked... knocking 'em four, five, ten times. Every now and then when they're stunned they come back to life, and they're up there agonizing. They're supposed to be re-stunned but sometimes they aren't and they'll go through the skinning process alive. I've worked in four large [slaughterhouses] and a bunch of small ones. They're all the same. If people were to see this, they'd probably feel really bad about it. But in a packing house everybody gets so used to it that it doesn't mean anything."

"The oath I took as an inspector said if I ever saw anything wrong I was supposed to report it. But today I can't report anything.Today, if you blow your whistle, you're in trouble with the inspection service. I feel the oath I took is violated every day I work." - William Freeman (Former slaughterhouse inspector)

The fast assembly-line slaughter process often miss the stunning on the animals. And so cutting, skinning and boiling animals alive happen too often, based on USDA slaughterhouse inspectors, as well as sworn testimony of slaughterhouse workers.

“Humane” killing is not a thing because there’s no “humane” way to exploit and murder someone who wants to live and enjoy freedom.

The animal farming business is about violating the fundamental rights of other animals to not be used as property.
There’s no such thing as “ethical” farming of individuals.
Period‼️
