M&P Setter Farms was built around the two who started it all, our Setters Maverick and Phoenix.

We’re a small-town English Setter breeder driven by a love and deep passion for bird dogs.

Had some days off work and decided to get the dogs out in the field for a hunt and get them ready for the season. Safe to say, everyone was ready! Good times were had, memories were made, and we’re one step closer to a great season. 🐾🌾

The cooler weather has finally given us a chance to get Mabel back on birds! She’d only seen 4–5 birds before this earlier in the summer, and she’s already proving she’s going to be a natural. Safe to say, we’re ready for hunting season!

Like father, like daughter. 🐾

Mav really said “copy and paste” with this one. On the left is little Miss Kate, and on the right is her dad, Maverick. The resemblance is unreal, from the markings to the expression. Safe to say she got more than a few of her dad’s good looks. ❤️

Worked little Miss Mabel on a couple quail today and she did great—especially for only her second time on birds. We shot one over her, and she brought it straight back to us. She’s already showing all the signs of making a solid bird dog.

Did you know English Setters can go from hunting upland to explosive detection work? This Phoenix x Maverick pup is excelling in explosive detection training with the University of Arkansas Police Department. From natural hunting instincts to serious working ability — this breeding continues to impress.

Little pupdate on the Phoenix x Maverick pups. We’re getting great reports all around. These pups are showing strong natural instincts, drive, and are excelling early in the field. Couldn’t be happier with how this breeding is turning out. Love watching them grow and getting updates.

This is M&P Setter Farms’ newest addition, little Miss Mabel 🤍
An old Ryman-style English Setter with so much promise already. She turned 13 weeks old Friday and has started working on a wing. She is doing absolutely great so far!

This past weekend all the pups went to their new homes. Bittersweet doesn’t even begin to cover it, but seeing them settle in and thrive already makes it so worth it 🥹💕

Here’s our male Maverick, sire of our current litter, fresh off a 4-day South Dakota hunt. Two-man limit every day, all four days. Powerful nose, steady work, and the kind of drive we strive to produce.

Pups definitely enjoy pestering their Uncle Goose the Basset Hound.
