Rural Animal Rescue Effort (RARE) is a 501 (c) 3 Non-Profit Organization based in middle Tennessee with a mission to rescue neglected and abandoned animals in rural areas with extreme overpopulation of companion animals. Rural Animal Rescue Effort (RARE) is a 501 (c) 3 Non-Profit organization dedicated to helping find rescue, fosters and adopters for animals in rural shelters and pounds, both “no-

kill” and “high-kill”. Although we are beginning our efforts in the west and middle region of Tennessee, we plan on growing our efforts to other areas and states as our organization and support for our cause grows. In the interim, we will focus on the shelters and pounds that we are currently helping and continue to network animals in need across the country via social platforms, including facebook, instagram pet adoption sites, etc. In addition to networking with other non-profit organizations, including rescues, RARE also looks for foster care and adopters for the animals in need and raises donations for veterinary care, including but not limited to, vaccines, heartworm tests, heartworm preventative, and spays and neuters. For those who are not active in the animal rescue world, there are tens of thousands of companion animals, mainly dogs and cats, killed every single day across the United States. Although there are animals in need everywhere across the country, rural areas seem to have the worst cases of companion animal overpopulation and abandonment for a plethora of reasons. Almost all of the animals, that sit in rural shelters/pounds or are more commonly euthanized due to the lack of space, time and money it takes to care for them, are highly adoptable and friendly with children and other animals. It takes time to accomplish change, but every stride in the right direction is worth taking.

✨🌌 The Constellation Litter Has Arrived! 🌌✨

Meet three little stars who are ready to light up your life: Mira, Aries, and Draco! They were named for the tiny “star” markings between their eyes—each one carrying a sparkle all their own.

Zoey and Rumi’s story began in a small rural shelter, where their bond was instant and unshakable. Zoey would sneak into Rumi’s pen just to be with her best friend. A few days later, when Rumi came down with parvo, we knew it was only a matter of time before Zoey got sick too. We couldn’t leave one behind—so we scooped them both up.

Now, thanks to lots of love and care, these besties are healthy, thriving, and ready for forever homes!

✨ Zoey (3–4 months, black & white with the floppiest ears) is s***ky, goofy, and full of puppy energy. She’s silly, loveable, and happiest when she’s playing with her dog friends or snuggling up after zoomies.

✨ Rumi (7 months, petite mini Aussie, 26 lbs and likely under 30 lbs full grown) is energetic, loving, and playful. She’s wonderful with dogs, cats, and kids, and would thrive with a fenced yard where she can run and play.

While Zoey and Rumi adore each other, they don’t need to be adopted together. Each is ready to bring joy, laughter, and unconditional love to their own forever family.

From shelter besties to survivors, Zoey and Rumi are proof that love and friendship can carry you through anything. Now, they’re ready to share that love with you.

Meet Vera!

At just 1.5 years old, Vera is a petite German Shepherd mix with a heart full of love and a personality that shines as brightly as her smile. Sweet, affectionate, and endlessly loyal, Vera is the kind of dog who makes every day better just by being part of it.

Vera is playful, curious, and full of s***k. She’s always up for a walk, a game of fetch, or a romp in the yard—and when it’s time to wind down, she’s just as happy to curl up beside you for snuggles. Her love for food makes her eager to learn, and training with her is both fun and rewarding.

She’s wonderful with other dogs, great with kids, and thrives in a home where she gets attention, structure, and plenty of love. Vera is the perfect balance of adventurous sidekick and loyal cuddle buddy.

BANJO NEEDS AN ADOPTER (or foster!)!

Banjo is back with us after a tough turn of events, but he’s ready for a new forever home filled with love, sunshine, and plenty of window views.

This gorgeous medium-haired boy was originally adopted as a kitten, but after four and a half wonderful years with his family, an unexpected emergency brought him back to us. He was then adopted, but is being returned due to adopter being allergic. We need to find him a new forever or foster home ASAP as we have nowhere for him to go!

Banjo is super chill. He loves lounging in sunny spots, birdwatching from the windowsill, and soaking up all the pets you’re willing to give.

This mellow gentleman has also lived with dogs his whole life, and he does just fine with canine companions—as long as they’re polite and not the jump-all-over-you type.

Banjo has a big heart and many more years of companionship to offer. If you’re looking for a relaxed, loving cat to complete your home, Banjo might just be your guy.
