Dogs, like us, experience emotions—fear, excitement, anxiety, joy. These feelings aren’t behaviors we can reward or punish. For example, comforting a scared dog doesn’t “reinforce” fear; it helps them feel safe.

What you can reinforce is how they respond to their emotions. By shaping positive behaviors, like calmly sitting instead of barking, you help your dog learn healthy ways to navigate their world.

So go ahead, give them that extra cuddle or reassurance. You’re not “spoiling” them; you’re being their anchor in a world they’re still figuring out. 🌟🐕
