Covid hit not long after Kristin finished maternity leave. Luke and I started watching reruns of Walkers Cay Chronicles before he could walk or talk. It has remained a fixture at the breakfast table ever since. As Luke's interest in fishing grew we would send updates to via DM. We were always pumped when we received a reply, usually a few weeks later and always in the form of emojis. It was a small gesture that meant a whole lot to middle aged dad and an outdoor kid. I can't imagine how much fan mail Flip received through the years, but I reckon we weren't the only ones that got regular replies. Flip and Lefty back on a jon boat on some backwater.

Class 3-25 is starting to trickle in. Missy and her brother Tucker are here all the way from TX. There's going to be plenty of spaniel fun this fall.

My first Brown Trout thanks to Heath I told him I wanted to work on my casting and I was not disappointed. Nearly 8 hours throwing streamers on 8 and 10wts with fantastic feedback. If you're looking for a trip in the southern apps I highly recommend reaching out to Heath. Great guy, leader in the conservation space, a talented instructor and guide that will work his tail off to put you on fish.

Possum Update:
I've never seen this pup show any concerning environmental sensitivity and he is growing stronger and more bold by the day. I'm making a concerted effort to spend long periods of time just developing a physical connection at the kennel gate and periodically through our walks. We'll be building 5 new Johnny houses for the farm this week and filling them once complete. I want his first good birds to be the best I can make them and incidental as opposed to planted. I think this is the way. I'll probably be taking him to the chain gang for the first time and plan to clip him between Pete and Althea (my most calm dogs) with a few hellraisers on the periphery. We are on the verge of the fun part.

I have a history of being overly critical of my young dogs and puppies. This approach won't allow for that. Any failure moving forward will rest squarely on my shoulders.
