Jasper’s bloodwork was back in normal range today ❤️

He’ll get his IV removed today as he’s now done with IV meds!

Jasper’s WBC has improved today!! Hopefully it improves more tomorrow and he can be taken off of his IV meds.

His WBC was normal upon intake at Hagyard on Saturday and low (3000) upon discharge yesterday. Today it has gone up to 4000 (normal is above 5600). Low WBC can be caused by stress, medications, not eating

Jasper’s excited to be back home!! He’s still on IV medication and still needs his bloodwork checked everyday until his WBC returns to normal. All of his bacterial & viral testing came back negative

Trail ride on Ghostdance Astraya (Jupiter) today 🧡

I haven’t been given an evening update on Jasper yet so I’m not sure if he’s still improving or not

Jaspers doing a lot better today. As long as he continues to improve he can come home on Wednesday!

Evening update- he is still improving and is now allowed to start eating hay & drinking water! He’s also pooping. They’re testing him for all kinds of stuff and don’t have those results back yet

Soooo I hauled Jasper to Hagyard for colic yesterday

This morning’s update on Jasper:

They believe he has enterocolitis. Still having a lot of reflux. With his distended & looped small intestines he’s still at risk of twisting or strangulating them. They also mentioned possibly needing to do surgery to decompress him. He’s on IV fluids, banamine, lidocaine, and oxytetracycline

Last night’s initial findings:
He has distended & looped small intestines, a distended duodenum, and had gastric reflux. His lactate levels were high, other bloodwork normal. Gut tap was normal. With the high lactate levels and distended looped intestines, he’s on watch for twisted or strangulated intestines
