Some of you may have been wondering why I have taken such an extensive hiatus from social media, but I am not quite ready to share that. With fires in the neighboring county impacting friends, family, and colleagues alike, I would like to implore that if you are able to offer help or support, please do so. I was directly impacted by Thomas Fire in 2017, and from experience, the help and support were essential and stay foremost in my memories.

If you are squeamish, do not watch the video, just read... as I have become more educated on horse physiology and the athletic implications within that I have been trying to find ways to explain this theory. Not all long and low is "built" the same!!

Worth the watch for sure. I bruised the pectoral muscles on a horse with too tight of a girth running working at a higher exertion level, as well as had a number of cold backed horses--which happens for many different reasons--so I have for manybyears advocated for my riders to be conscious of where they measure girth tightness. Some people listen, others cannot move on from the "old ways." This is why I am also a fan of all leather girths or rope girths... elastic can allow you to tighten to a point at which when a horse exhales there is no relief from pressure, or in other terms every time they inhale pressure actually increases. Baseline pressure should be at the full extension of the ribcage and lungs.
