I have been an animal lover and advocate for dogs for as long as I can remember. I am active in Shelter reform. I support several rescue groups and I particularly love the organization called C.H.A.I.N.E.D. out of the Detroit area. A few years years ago I went into a local animal control and found a very shaken Standard Poodle. He was totally shut down and frozen with fear. The more you spoke to h

im the more he quivered and cowered in the back of his cage. I inquired about him at the front desk and was informed he was an owner surrender that came in the day before. I was told his name was Bentley, he was 3 1/2 years old, not neutered and that he had been an outside dog. This was all the info they had. With two dogs at home, I was not looking for another, but he pulled at my heartstrings and I asked animal control to call me if no one adopted him by the weekend. I really had no experience with the Standard Poodle breed, but there was something about him… maybe it was those big brown eyes? Whatever it was, the spell was cast. The call came a few days later and off I went to fetch him. I planned to find him a good home. Once he settled in, I had him neutered so he would not fall into the hands of a breeder. I quickly fell in love with this big brute and he became part of my family. A few years later my old Maltese went to the rainbow bridge. I was combing the pet ads on Craigslist. I clicked on Free Stuff on a whim and could not believe my eyes – but there was a Standard Poodle. I won’t even get in to the dangers of posting any animal for free on Craigslist. Of course, I emailed immediately and a lady called me the next morning and off I went. More than anything I did not want this dog to fall in the wrong hands/ home. Again I was blessed- this time with a sweet little girl named Molly. She was 2 and had never had any vet care, lived on a farm and was tied to a barn. Yep, I kept her as well. She and Bentley are inseparable. I served on the board of the Humane Society of Bay County in 2012. I have been involved with many rescues and have fostered several dogs in my life. I believe in doing a home check and getting both vet and personal references before placing a dog in a permanent home. I have many contacts with other rescues in the state. I am so very attracted to the Standard Poodle breed and the sweet sensitive nature of them. I do not want to see them fall in the wrong hands. This is why I started a Standard Poodle Rescue in MI. If you need to surrender your Standard Poodle for any reason – please contact me first before taking it to a shelter. This is so stressful and scary for a dog. I am willing to offer a safe place and promise to do everything necessary to assure you that I will find the right home for your standard poodle. Seriously, could you get more precious than this girl???? For each of you who has a heart for seniors, CHENILLE has lost her mama and needs a wonderful home. Chenille is a Standard Poodle, 11 1/2 years old. She is spayed and current on vaccines, and may or may not need veterinary attention to her teeth. Chenille loves dogs and kids, and is a gentle soul. She is calm and relaxed, house-trained and leash-trained, and needs walks, CUDDLES, ATTENTION, and KISSES!

Snug as a Doug in a rug...this 18 month old Standard Poodle is a dream! Doug is neutered and current on vaccines, house-trained (with alerts), and a perfect gentleman in the house. He is all white and weighs 69 pounds. Doug is always up for a romp, loves kids and dogs alike, and does not require a crate. He will need a bit of fine-tuning on the leash. Doug is looking for a family with lots of love to give and time to spend, and a playful resident dog. This beauty is immediately available in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan. QUINCY is a four-year-old Standard Poodle mix. He weighs 52 pounds, is house-trained, neutered and current on vaccines. He's a laid-back guy that prefers his people to balls, toys, or the great outdoors (He likes to do his business and come right back inside.) He is crate-trained, and although he will fuss when first put in the crate, he settles down and is quiet. (QUIET QUINCY). He's manageable on a leash, but could use some fine-tuning. Quincy was surrendered to a shelter and saved by our friend, Carmen, who is fostering him. Quincy is looking for a forever home as an only dog or with a mellow or medium energy dog. He is uncomfortable around other dogs at first, and will need a bit of time and patience to integrate, but he has done well in his foster home with the other dogs. HE LOVES, LOVES, LOVES, HUMANS! He needs a home with humans who enjoy LOTS of cuddling on the couch. He is such a sweet guy!! Leo is an 11 1/2 month old, 19-pound miniature poodle. He is neutered and current on vaccines. He is house-trained, crate-trained, obedient, and trained to an in-ground fence. He knows several commands, and loves dogs and cats. Leo loves chasing birds in the backyard, jumping into his person's arms (from the bed!) and small squeaky balls. He especially loves his people. Leo is active, friendly, a bit clingy, and shy. When out and about, he is a perfect gentleman and visitor - you can take him anywhere and he gets along with everyone, both human and canine. At home, he can be protective of his people and will bark at visitors and nip their pant legs. Leo is being rehomed because his family has a child who entertains lots of playmates, and Leo raises an objection to these intruders by barking and nipping their pant legs. Leo is looking for a quiet home with a fenced yard, loving people who have lots of time for him, and not a lot of human traffic. This petite poodle is Roswell. She is 2 1/2 years old and weighs 15 pounds. She gets along well with (older) children and is tolerant of the dogs she meets when she is out and about. She is house-trained, spayed, and current on vaccines, as well as flea and tick prevention. She is active, playful, friendly, and a bit clingy. She can be fearful when away from home. Roswell loves going for walks and could benefit from some leash fine-tuning. She loves to run! She loves her humans, and the human bed, and kisses and snuggles from her people. Roswell is being rehomed because she can't seem to get along with the resident dog. Roswell is looking for a new home with loving humans who have lots of time and affection to shower on her, a fenced yard, and no other pets. She is available for a meet and greet in Jenison Michigan. FOSTER FOUND Meet SCHATZI and CLYDE discovered in the wilderness in a burrow they had made for themselves. 😭💔 Rescued by a good Samaritan, they are now out of the elements, safe and fed, BUT...they are kenneled and scared and need a loving foster or forever home, TOGETHER OR SEPARATELY.
SCHATZI is true to her name, which means, "little treasure." She is about one year old and weighs 30 pounds. She thrives on attention and loves, loves, loves her people. She seems good with kids. Schazti has been groomed, and vaccinated. She will need to be spayed. Schazti needs an IMMEDIATE home or foster with quiet, loving people who have lots of time for her. A resident dog would be best. She really is a little treasure.
CLYDE is a Standard Poodle, about three years old. He weighs 50 pounds, and is sweet as can be. When this guy's soulful eyes meet yours, you will fall in love. CLYDE has been groomed (turns out he's WHITE, not cream.) and vaccinated. He will need to be neutered. Now that he is safe, all Clyde wants is to be with his people, and he is VERY eager to please. His ideal foster/forever home will have a friendly resident dog and people with loads of time for him.

FOSTER FOUND. SUKIE AND CHIEF ARE 6-YEAR-OLD MALE STANDARD POODLES. They are house-trained and crate-trained and beautifully-behaved dogs. They are kid-friendly (experience with teens), and do well with all other pets, large and small. Each weighs about 60 pounds.
