🎉 Happy 12th Birthday, Lucy! 🎉

Our sporty girl is celebrating her big day! With her big, bright eyes, Lucy is a pro at spotting and snatching food from the water. When she’s not perfecting her catching skills, she’s usually chilling with her mate, Handsel.

Help us wish this talented penguin a FIN-tastic birthday in the comments! 👇

Why did New York dump 2,500 subway cars into the ocean?

Nope, it’s not pollution—it’s part of a surprising plan to save our coral reefs. From decommissioned warships to cremated remains turned into reef cement, scientists are going all-in on artificial reefs, and they might just be working.

Dive into the story of sunken subway cars, underwater graveyards, and the wild science behind coral restoration. 👇

Is it possible to give old things new life? Can broken, destroyed, and wrecked items provide a new home for millions? What good is it to purposely sink 2,500 old New York City subway cars into the ocean? When it comes to coral reef restoration, the word “upcycle” has a whole new meaning.

EYE spy a googly-eyed friend! 👀

The Telescope Goldfish is famous for its large, protruding eyes that give it a one-of-a-kind look. First bred in China in the early 1700s, these fancy goldfish are admired for their dramatic appearance and graceful swimming. While their eyes might make them look wide-eyed with wonder, they actually have poor vision and prefer calm, peaceful habitats.
