Our Story

The mission of MPR is to aid in establishing research retirement sanctuaries for primates. And to support legislative action to end animal research.

Mauritius is one of the world’s largest suppliers of primates for the cruel international research industry‚ in particular the USA and Europe. “Tens of thousands of monkeys‚ who were captured from the wild‚ are imprisoned in farms across Mauritius‚ then sent to cruel research laboratories. The monkeys may not be able to write music or read a book or build a skyscraper. But they are just like us in that they have the ability to suffer and feel pain.
