Up Close and Personal: Misdemeanor
Once a mom, always a mom- Miss D has been letting her momstincts shine with all of the kittens at the cafe. I wouldn't say she's keeping them in line (herding cats and all that), but she is certainly making sure they're shined up and spiffy post shenanigans.

Miss D came to us with three tiny kittens, two of which sadly passed away. It is likely they were exposed to a pathogen in utero, as the surviving kitten has cerebellar hypoplasia. Momma Misdemeanor is spreading all that extra love where she can. She absolutely adores attention, and being around people. She gets along well with other cats, and has been known to be a snuggle partner to Andy.

Although her momming days are clearly not over, Misdemeanor's baby making time is- she is now spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. She tested FeLV/FIV negative. We're open 12-5 Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays, and 10-5 on Saturdays and she'd love to have her forever family find her at the cafe soon!

Adoptions 944-945 - Florence and Hazel
Every now and then there is an adoption so special that your heart explodes. For us, it was these girls. Our sweet Florence (left) and Hazel (right). You didn’t see these beauties out front at the cafe because Hazel is FIV+, so she stayed in the back room with her best friend and emotional support cat, Florence. Together we cared for them every day for four months, trying to show them off to good potential adopters and trying to educate that FIV is not a death sentence for a cat and that they can live a long, healthy life. Florence with her long, flowy locks could have been adopted alone ten times over, but she and Hazel were like glue and we weren’t going to split them up. Just when we started to feel hopeless, along came John and Tom. They just moved to Lewisburg and they were ready to adopt. They were so ready that they parked their Uhaul moving van on market street and visited the cafe before even moving their items to their home. Their hearts were huge so we just had to ask “could we introduce you to a special duo in the back?” They agreed. The girls instantly won the heart of John, but he had to make sure Tom felt the same way. All it took was one lap dance from Flo and Tom was hooked too. Today they made it official and we are so grateful that each sweet girl now has a lap of their own. We are so grateful that Tom and John took a chance on our Flo and Hazel and we can’t wait to follow their amazing new life. From the bottom of hearts, thank you for choosing the underdogs....or should we say undercats. We are so grateful. Happy tails sweet girls.

Adoption 943 - Carra
Janet of Muncy wanted some kitten love in her life and knew she wanted to have a sweet female. She came to the cafe with her daughter last week and Carra checked all the boxes. We told Carra to be a good girl and enjoy her new life with Janet! We know she will. Welcome home sweet girl and happy tails!

Up close and personal- Hashbrown
We have focused on Sir Hashy before, and here he is, still waiting. And, well, he's not exactly interested in selling himself. Hashbrown has clear, inflexible boundaries, and has made it clear he prefers to live in a home (world?) where he is the only cat. He's not nasty about it, but he makes it abundantly clear that other cats in his orbit are by and large unwelcome.

That said, he reminds me a bit of Ove from the Fredrik Backman book (or movie)- sure, he has a rough exterior. Yes, saying he's set in his ways is a massive understatement. He most certainly is going to report you for incorrectly depositing your recyclables. But under all that? There's softness. He barely even attempts to conceal it- he's all over a good lap snuggle when it suits him, biscuits and loud purr and all. He'll unapologetically show off his belly and you'd better believe he'll swat your hand away if you so much as think it's an invitation to rub it... but there's no claws out. He doesn't want to hurt anyone. He just wants what he wants, and that's it.

Hashbrown is actually a playful fellow, and pretty agile for a big guy. He enjoys both the sparkle wand and the laser pointer, as well as the stackers with a ball he can bat around... as long as he doesn't have to share them. He is also a big fan of treats, and will ask for them with what is the softest, sweetest meow that it doesn't seem can possibly come from such a large fella.

He will do best in a single-pet home where he is king. Might he tolerate one other cat who can respect his boundaries... maybe? Interestingly, he seems to have at least come to agreements with some of the cafe cats, so who knows. It would DEFINITELY require a slow, careful introduction. Hashbrown is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, and tested FeLV/FIV negative. If you want a snuggly companion who will lounge on your lap and politely demand treats occasionally, please consider adding Hashbrown to your family. We're open 12-5 Thursday, Friday and Sunday, and 10-5 on Saturdays. If you don't see the large orange fella out and about when you visit, please ask a volunteer if he's back in his bachelor pad (he requests breaks in the utility room, and, frankly, has just about all of us wrapped around his orange mitts).

Adoption 942 - Rusty
Well we have a wagging tail for this adoption when Rusty fell in love with his new mama, Alexys of Montgomery, PA. She knows that Rusty is a little naughty boy who will pounce and sneak in rooms but he’s also full of love and kisses! So happy you are home sweet Rusty! Happy tails.

All the kittens can be OvErWHelMiNg and our awesome adults cats tend to be overlooked, so we'll be featuring a few of them this week. 😻

Up close and personal- Andy
This here is the sweetest, most gentle soul. Andy is unassuming, patient and affectionate, and he has the softest, almost plaintive meow that is certain to lighten even the blackest of hearts. He does love a good treat, and is especially fond of a kitty gogurt, but is more willing to share than most.

Andy is tolerant of all the kitten spunkiness, and honestly doesn't just accept living around lots of other cats, but most definitely needs at least one feline friend. He's not bonded to anyone in particular- in fact he's been caught canoodling with just about every other willing cat in the cafe. 🥰

If you're in the market for a quiet friend who will be happy to spend time with you, but without the wild unhinged kitten energy- Andy is your man. He's neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, and tested FeLV/FIV negative. We're open 12-5 Thursday, Friday and Sunday, and 10-5 on Saturday- when we're open, you may find Andy tucked away in a cubby, often with a friend, avoiding all the hustle and bustle. If you'd like his attention please ask a volunteer if you can smuggle him a squeeze up. 😜

Adoption 941 - Marian
Two of the sweetest girls to ever grace the Cafe, adopted our sweet Marian and we are smitten!! Helyne (right) and Mouna of Sunbury fell in love with her, the instant they met her. They saw past all the young kittens at the café and enjoyed the calmness of the sweet gentle soul of Marian. She’s going to have a beautiful life. Happy tales.

We've likely found forever already but we're cute- Rosita & Mr. Manchengo 😻
They're too cute not to share, but these two have likely already been scooped up by a new forever family! This entire crew have loads of love to give, so it's no surprise they had interest so quickly. Rosita came Cherished Cats Rescue Alliance with her two brothers, Cookie and Gonger*, when they were just five weeks old after being found stowed away in a boat. Mr. Manchengo joined them later at being found alone in a window well at Bucknell University. He weighed in at just north of one pound, with a heavy flea infestation and some moderately pale gums, but some good vet care and TLC turned him around quite quickly!

We have lots of kittens coming from foster care to the cafe in the next couple of months, so if you're interested in adopting please put in an application now. We can work with you to help find a good fit, although we also highly recommend stalking our social media accounts to keep an eye out for a feline friend that catches your eye (and also because cute cat pics are better for your mental health than more or less everything else out there).

Have a great day! 😎

Meet our residents- Cookie
Me want ALL THE ATTENTION! 🍪 Cookie is a social fella who is pleased just to be involved in whatever you're up to. He very much enjoys the company of other cats as well, and would likely adjust well to a cat-friendly dog.

Cookie has a bit of an obsession with hair , so if a kitten who is likely to rearrange your lovely locks when you're chillin' on the couch 💇🏼‍♀️, he's probably not your guy. He's energetic and fun, and will do best in an active household that enjoys his antics and wants him to be all up in their business.

Cookie is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, and he tested FeLV/FIV negative. We're open 12-5 Thursday, Friday and Sunday, and 10-5 on Saturdays, and the cafe is currently absolutely bustling with kitten energy ⚡⚡⚡- please come in for a visit and help wear them out!

Meet our residents- Gonger
The first of our Sesame Street friends, Gonger is an absolute delight. And I'm not just saying that because he was my foster, but I will admit I'm a smidge biased. 😇

Gonger LOVES attention, and is an eager biscuit maker and champion of purring. He and his siblings want to be involved in whatever you're up to, and they all have a touch of the velcro kitty in them (I can't currently walk through the cafe without at least one of them being underfoot). Gonger adorably swishes his tail around a bit like a dog, and although he's never met one he'd likely enjoy a canine friend if properly introduced. He adjusted to the cafe quickly, and is overall a pretty chill fella.

Gonger is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, and he tested FeLV/FIV negative. If you're looking for a house panther with the soul of a dog to be attached to your hip, Gonger is your man! He gets along well with both his actual siblings, as well as his brother from another, Mr. Manchengo, who is his mini-me. We're open 12-5 Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, and 10-5 on Saturday- please come by and enjoy all the wild kitten energy we currently have in the cafe!
