Meet Asparagus - Gus for short!

He turned up stray at a rural Louisiana shelter after presumably being hit by a car. He suffered a nasty break in his right forelimb and to make matters worse, it’s horribly maligned. The shelter’s vet splinted it best they could and put him on pain meds. Then they reached out to local rescues for help, as complicated injuries like this are not within municipal shelter budgets, unfortunately. 🤕

We were happy to help! At best, Gus will need weekly radiographs along with sedated bandagings to help the fracture heal in a functional manner. At worst, he will need an amputation. We’ll know a lot more after he gets a few weeks of care under his belt. 🩻

In the meantime, he’s comfy and safe with one of our amazing foster homes. Asking for a little help from our friends today to cover the cost of his upcoming weeks of x-rays and splintings. These weekly vet visits won’t be cheap. 🙏🏼

Willow is a truly breathtaking Mal X who was on the verge of being given away for free on FB when a compassionate Good Samaritan stepped in and saved the day. They graciously reached out for help and thankfully we had a wonderful foster step up for her, allowing us to welcome her into our program with open arms.

She’s about 5 mos old. Fixed, fully vaccinated and on both flea and heartworm preventatives. Looking for a home with working breed experience, so she can be the best version of herself!

It's shocking and sad that a dog this sweet and adorable has been waiting for a forever home for a year and a half now!

Libby is 2 years old, doggo friendly and kiddo friendly! She's been in multiple foster homes with children and loves them! She's an AMAZING family dog! As long as there are no cats. 🙂

Meet our Rottie Fam!

A longtime foster of ours happened upon this dumped family in a grocery parking lot. She managed to scoop them all up and created a nursery room in her home for them and reached out to us for help. I’d say that it’s hard to believe, but in rescue we see stuff like this every day. It’s absolutely heartbreaking. The part that’s truly hard to believe is that someone stopped and chose to help them instead just posting a pic or calling animal control. Rescues can move mountains with a little help from foster families.

Remarkably, Mom, Dad and their 8 pups are healthy and thriving! They’ve been dewormed and will begin their vaccine series once they’re of age. Each pup will have 4-5 rounds of vax, 2-3 dewormings, spay/neuter, microchip and both flea and heartworm preventatives. Mom and dad are unfortunately heartworm positive, so we’ll be seeing them thru treatment and then fixing them both.

I can’t even guesstimate how much it will cost us to get this sweet little family vetted and ready for adoption, but it won’t be cheap. We’ll be doing several fundraisers to help cover the cost of it all. They are currently available for pre-adoption and can go home around 15 weeks of age. Their sweet Papa will be available soon as he’s neutered.

Posey has left the shelter!

After 3 weeks running stray and scared, then a few nights in the shelter, Posey is now in a temporary foster home.

This gorgeous girl needs a committed foster home to fatten her up, teach her some manners and show her what love is!

After one night out of the shelter we’ve learned she will smother you with kisses, bounce around the yard happily with other dogs, and then squeeze herself under the bed to rest and feel safe.

Apparently no one in her last life took the time to teach her “sit” or not to jump up for kisses, but she’s very smart and just needs a little patience. Typical doodle puppy!

Ramona has been available for adoption for 480 days and she’s so tired of waiting she just fell over…. 😆

She’s short and squatty, has the cutest underbite, the softest fur, and is the most loyal companion. She is about 40 lbs, dog and people friendly! Approximately 4 yrs old.

We haven’t found one thing wrong with her other than she’s dark colored and doesn’t photograph well. When you meet her in person, her short stubby legs and her little teefs will melt your heart.
