It's the best day of the year! 2 major happenings on today. Happy 16th birthday to the glue that holds our entire program together, Izzy. Rick, how was it 16 years ago that we had our biggest crop of foals and my first year of experiencing breeding. You've helped me immensely learn more and more to help better the breed with foundation, high quality breeding practices!
And happy Derby day!!!!!!
Many do not know my farm is named after my first horse and the one who taught me more then I can imagine Sydney, a thoroughbred. I know they can be very polarizing and many people do not like racing but I've had first hand experience working with owners on the track and most care more then you can imagine about their horses. You mainly hear about the "bad" owners because we tend to focus on the negative, but that is in any industry, any section of the horse world, and any part of our society. The good outweigh the bad overall!
Here's to the next generation of thoroughbred on my farm, Brisbane, you have big shoes to fill!
I hope everyone gets to experience the loyalty and love of a thoroughbred at least once in their life and it helps break their stigma of being hot and hard to handle.
Enjoy the Derby and learning all the great stories of the horses, owners and jockeys and how they got to where they are. There's so much time, dedication, and money in these unbelievable athletes!
