DO NOT USE CRAFT STRAW FOR CAT SHELTERS! Most of the craft straws are crushed/shredded and therefore don’t have the insulating properties needed. Other craft straws are bleached, others have a tacking substance that makes it sticky. It is not optimum for the purpose needed.

Fall is upon us and it’s time to start thinking about the Feral Cats and their outdoor shelters. As has been reiterated many times, the shelters should be filled with straw, not hay. However, craft straw is not appropriate either! The type you buy at Michaels, Amazon and other craft stores does not provide the insulation that is needed. You need to buy bales of straw from feed stores or landscaping companies or nurseries. Straw is a natural insulator that has been used effectively for centuries to keep people and animals warm. It is hollow, acts as a natural insulator, is not edible, It doesn’t absorb water and is not prone to mold. It is a natural insulating material. Hay on the other hand, absorbs water, is digestible, does promote mold growth and does not keep animals warm! Do not use hay, and be WARNED that CRAFT straw is often ineffective and inappropriate for the use in cat shelters.

VIETNAM: CATS AND DOGS TOSSED IN CAGES TOGETHER
Notice the cats in the same cages as the dogs. It's particularly bad for cats, who can be easily killed in the cage by dogs. There's no food and often no water either. Vendors usually keep dogs and cats for around five days. If no one claims or buys them they're sold to dog butchers as meat. Vendors like this are all over Vietnam, on street corners and along roadways. The pedigree dogs and cats are usually stolen pets; waiting for desperate owners to find them and ransom them. But most owners have no idea where to look to locate their pets. Its a terrible cycle that continues to today. And with no animal protection laws, sadly nothings about to change anytime soon.

Hi guy, meet Jersey( brown and black) and Jupiter. They are 3months old, fully vetted(microchipped, both neutered and has all of the vaccinations. Jersy and Jupiter are looking for new homes. We are located in Hudson NJ. We are apart of North Jersey Kitty Committee and they are ready for adoption.

Jersey

Very outgoing, loves to pay, get attention but when he doesn’t want any more he will not come near you. You can pick him up and touch him on his ears, tail, paws to an extent and very playful.

Jupiter

Very shy, loves to hid, lovable but if you pick him up he is very squirmy. He loves attention but only at his time. Very freindly to other kittens and potentially friendly enough to large calm dogs laying down.

In the application the kitten has to be with another cat or kitten if not they are a bonded pair, who love each other. Note we have them playing with my other kitten that I recently adopted.
