🐾 June Mission: Let’s Fill Their Bowls! 🐾

At Red String Rescue, we know that great health starts with quality food. We exclusively feed our dogs Open Farm because its clean, traceable ingredients keep our pups thriving and save us from so many stressful, unnecessary trips to the vet. 🥣❤️

Our goal for June is to collect 10 bags of Open Farm "Good Bowl."
This is what our current rescue pack goes through in a typical month, and reaching this goal would save Red String Rescue a minimum of $700 —allowing us to put those essential funds toward other vital care for the dogs currently in our program.
Last month, we were so touched to receive 2 bags from our community, and we are so grateful for every bit of support 🫶🏻.

Yesterday was National Rescue Dog Day, but it’s never too late to shed some light on rescues & shelters, while highlighting some of our own amazing pups that have spent many years with us!

*Millions in Need: Every year, approximately 3.1 to 3.3 million dogs enter U.S. animal shelters. Many of these dogs are surrendered not because of behavioral issues, but due to owner circumstances like moving to non-pet-friendly housing, divorce, or financial hardship.

*Saving More Than One Life: When you adopt, you aren't just saving the dog you take home; you are also opening up a crucial space, resource, and kennel spot for another dog in need, creating a ripple effect of rescue.

*A "Built-in" Benefit: Unlike many puppies from breeders, many rescue dogs are already adults who have previously lived in homes. This often means they arrive already house-trained and familiar with basic household commands, making the transition period smoother for their new families.

*Combating Inhumane Practices: Choosing adoption directly combats the demand for puppy mills and unethical "backyard" breeding operations. By opting for a rescue, you ensure your support goes toward animal welfare rather than profit-driven, factory-style breeding.

*An Economic Advantage: Adoption is generally more cost-effective than purchasing from a breeder. Adoption fees typically cover initial veterinary costs, including spaying or neutering, vaccinations, and often microchipping, which would otherwise be significant out-of-pocket expenses for a new owner.

Rescue work is not easy, but with community support and people opening their hearts & homes to a dog in need, we can work together to create a beautiful life for our furry friends.

Happy International Chihuahua Day! Today is our Rocco the Taco’s day! Rocky is believed to be a Chiweenie, a chihuahua/daschund mix. This little fella is small yet mighty and ALWAYS has a happy demeanor about him. He’s about 6 years old and is truly a perfect pup. He loves running on the obstacles in the play yard, or going on long leash adventures where his favorite pastime is rolling around in the grass. In his younger years he was our little ‘Mexican jumping bean’ always squirmy and wanting to run & bounce around. As of more recently, he has come to realize that he enjoys snuggling up in our lap and getting lots of love, and we love that we can give that to him 🥰.

Good Chilly Morning from Tux! We arrived to our destination in NH at 2am 🥱 and he enjoyed his breakfast by the river 🥰. He’s being SO good taking in all the scenery and changes. It’s a very brisk 30 something degrees here and we’re both wondering why we left sunny Florida 😅. Here’s to hoping the weather warms up! Toodaloo for now 🫶🏻

We are in PA! Tux has had an adventurous day today. He got to experience some freedom with a long leash sniffari hike and checked out an obstacle course. We were hoping to go ‘Live’ with the sniffari hike, but as our luck (and the boonies of West Virginia) would have it, we had no cell service. Go figure 😅. We took lots of videos and once we get settled in, those will be uploaded! But for now, it’s a quick pit stop in PA. 8 more driving hours, and a couple more stops along the way until we reach NH!

Good morning from Tux! We are up and ready to go do some exploring today! Tux did SO well in the hotel. He heard some people moving outside our door and didn’t make a peep. He enjoyed jumping from bed to bed to share snuggles with Landon and I and played his own version of “the floor is lava” 😅. Stay tuned to see where we explore today!

We have finally made it to our rest spot for the night. Buckhannon, WV! We’ve been on the road since 5:30am and took a scenic route to check out the Green Bank Observatory where Tux enjoyed his dinner. We were in the National Radio Quiet Zone for what seemed like eternity. Traveling the mountainous, curvy roads without cellphone service for about 3 hours. Thank goodness we grabbed a screenshot of the directions to the hotel, because as soon as we arrived at the Observatory, the map shut off and we were left figuring it out on our own. Felt like a flash back to circa 2000 and the days of printing MapQuest directions 😆. Tux is VERY excited to be resting in a comfy bed. Tomorrow we have a couple other sightseeing adventure stops and then another long day of traveling to NH!

We’ve made it to VA! Still a few hours to go until we rest for the night. Tux is a little uncertain of the weather and wet ground here. It’s in the low 60s and drizzly. We are definitely NOT in sunny Florida anymore. Hopefully the weather clears up by time we reach our next stop!

So many puppies and dogs found homes! Congratulations to all the adopters and the pups!

And now we present to you the first ever Red String Rescue Superbowl Squares Fundraiser! We had no idea how it would good but we rolled the dice and thanks to some big efforts (looking at you Mallory Murphy!) and collaboration we filled all the boxes! We will have winners in every quarter!

Good luck tonight! We will contact all the winners Monday afternoon and announce them on our socials!
