Today is Giving Tuesday and what better day than today to reach out and ask for a little support for Red String Rescue?!
We know all too well how challenging the times are for many. Costs are ever rising, groceries aren't getting cheaper, utilities keep going higher, medical bills trending the same way. We feel the strain, too.
It has been a big part of our mission to find unique ways to fundraise for the dogs in our rescue, because the last thing we want to do is ask for people to donate their hard earned money to dogs in need. This is how we came up with the idea of doing Lick Art Creations and we are the Home of the Pawcassos. If you're new here and don't know what that is, check out our website: www.redstringrescue.com
However, since today is Giving Tuesday, we are trying something new! Do you have just $5 to spare? It may not seem like much, but we promise you, $5 can truly make a big difference for the pups in our care.

Tux here saying Hi and reminding everyone he is still looking for his furever home 🥰. He recently overheard some dog friends barking about how they get to sleep in their hooman’s warm beds on these chilly nights and he thinks that would be PAWSOME to experience.
Tux is a snuggler and if you looked up the definition of Velcro, his picture would be in the description. This dog will be your absolute best friend.
Single and looking for your person? Tux will be your match maker with his irrestibly charming personality. He turns heads and attracts pleasant attention with his great manners.
Not sure about adoption, but want to try fostering? Let us know! Contact us to set up a meet & greet! www.redstringrescue.com

Losing Stella didn’t just break our hearts, it’s breaking Croix’s heart, too. Stella has been his best friend, or if they were people, his wife, for so many years. Seeing him come outside and look for her is pulling hard at the heart strings. Thank you to everyone for the outpouring of support. Please keep Croix in your thoughts as he also navigates these changes.

Life's greatest gift and curse is that life is fragile.
We are heartbroken and devastated by the events of last night and ultimately losing another one of our residents. Our beautiful girl Stella went into cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment early this morning. The vet said she was beginning to turn a corner and seemed like she was coming around but they suspect she threw a bloodclot and it caused her heart to give out. They attempted CPR but she didn't come back.
Stella has been with us since she was about one year old and the MOMENT she walked through the gates she and I had a magnetic connection. I loved her instantly. She spent the next several years as a truly beloved member of our pack. She was a husky through and through and she was awesome. She did have some behavioral challenges that gave me pause to ever rehome her and let's face it... I loved her.
She was at home with us and she wasn't going anywhere.
We have been through so much heartache in the recent years and so many of our long time residents have gone ahead to wait for us.
It. Never. Gets. Easier.
Please send lots of love to all the shelter and rescue dogs who need it right now.
And please take some time EVERY DAY to really love your dog. Do the things. Go to the places. Watch the sunrises and sunsets.
Let them sniff.
Let them be dogs.
And love them all the more for it.
You never know when you won't have that chance again. And they already only get a fraction of what we hope to for ourselves.
They depend on us and give us EVERYTHING.
Everything but enough time.

Another day another crisis.
Sometimes it seems like when we feel most vulnerable we face some even greater challenges to see what we can rise to.
Tonight upon arriving for our night time tuck-ins we found our girl Stella seizing on the floor in her room. We immediately rushed her to the emergency hospital where they are working diligently and desperately to stabilize her. Her bloodwork came back that she is apparently diabetic. Her temp was 104 and her bloodwork was a hot mess.
I can barely write this now as we were just moments ago informed she's basically in a coma state. The next couple hours are critical to determine if she has any hope of making a recovery. Please keep our girl in your prayers and thoughts and hearts tonight and tomorrow and the coming weeks. We need to ask again for a shot at a miracle.
We might not get another day with her. But we have to do everything possible and even try to do the impossible if that's what it takes. We give everything we've got to the pups every day without fail but somehow it still never seems like its enough. And asking for help is not something I do well but here I am again asking you all for your help and support.
The vet informed us a recovery (if possible) could cost roughly $7000 as she'll be in the care of the specialists here around the clock and require insulin twice a day for the rest of her life.
We have put down just under $1700 tonight which is only expected to last til morning and that's assuming there are no other complications before then. But then in the morning the big bills come due.
Once again we find ourselves asking for your help to get through another emergency. Every little bit means the world to us.

Happy Gotcha Day 2-year Anniversary to Queso, formerly known as Casey! This pup is what the Red String of Fate is all about. You see, he and Brandon went on a field trip one day and while out and about,
another couple were visiting the area from Ohio while on a work trip. They had their own Golden Doodle with them and as soon as the two Doodles locked eyes, it was like a switch to a magnetic energy field turned on and they were instant best friends. The humans chit chatted and in true Brandon fashion, he asked If they needed another pup! (Doesn’t hurt to ask, right? 😉). As you can see from the pics and update, they decided they did in fact need another pup! Read the text we received and let’s show some love for Queso’s Gotcha Day! And a special thank you to his family for opening their hearts & home to a pup in need 🥰.
“Today marks 2 years since Queso (Casey) came to live with us! This was his sassy smile yesterday on our adventure to the BMV. He loves his big brother and plays chase with him daily. His favorite human is a toss up between daddy and grandpa but generally he will snuggle with anyone that will rub the inside of his leg! He loves to go to Home Depot and sit pretty for a treat along with notifying every drive thru worker that he is abused by the lack of human food he receives 🤷♀️ thanks again for asking if we needed a second dog that day!”

The side of Rescue that no one talks about 👇🏻.
What you see on social media: snuggles, wagging tails, cute faces in need of homes, stories of overcoming adversity, and maybe the occasional success story.
What you don’t see: the brutally long 14+ hour days, the micromanaging of every dog and making sure each one is safe, secured, and equally loved on. The rising costs of electricity, water, food, vet bills, etc. Knowing that you’re doing all of this without collecting a paycheck, which means you have to work another job just to pay your own bills. The uncertainty of if or when a dog you take in will find a future home. Committing your life to caring for the animals, and the heartbreaking reality that one day you’ll have to see them cross the rainbow bridge, but you don’t get to take the time to grieve. After all, you have to get back to work because you have more dogs depending on you for all their needs.
Rescue. Is. Hard. It truly takes the support of the entire community to make a difference. No amount of love or compassion for animals is enough to save all the lives. It takes community. It takes strangers coming together for the greater good. Together, we can all make a difference.

With grateful hearts we want to extend the biggest THANK YOU to our friends & community for your generous support. Because of YOU, and your quick response both in sharing & donating, we were able to get a new AC late last night. The pups (and we) couldn’t be more appreciative 🥹🫶🏻❤️.

We have finally taken the steps to become a formal dog rescue! As many of our friends and supporters know Brandon and All Terrain Canine has been taking in dogs for many years and helping them however we can. We work with their behavioral challenges, we nurse them back to health from poor conditions, we give them new life when hope seemed gone.
Despite not having been a formal rescue organization, we have worked hand in hand with numerous organizations to help more than 50 dogs in the last three years! Many of those dogs were surrendered directly to us because groups did not have the resources to take them on. In some other cases we have "acquired" dogs from other organizations that gave up on them. WE DON'T DO THAT. Whether someone else gives up on them, we find them in the woods emaciated and desperate for some love, or we see one in a shelter that needs out, we are there for them.
All Terrain Canine currently has 3 dogs in our foster and train program who are represented by rescue groups that have stuck it out while searching for homes for these special needs animals. We are proud to work with such dedicated organizations!
In addition to those dogs we have another 5 dogs with no representation or outside financial support. 2 of those 5 dogs are in sanctuary care with us and aren't suitable for standard adoption. One being a former bait dog and the other is low content wolf hybrid that is almost completely feral. We work diligently and tirelessly to provide them with a better quality of life. We have been there with them through thick and thin and we will continue to be there for them for life.
To accomplish our goals, we are partnering with another rescue for fiscal sponsorship allowing us to share their non-profit status til our own is approved and established. This means all support from our friends, allies, and community will be tax deductible!
We will be a voice for the voiceless! A shield for the defenseless! The sword that fights the injustice they suffer! And we will be the light that gives them warmth and shines hope into their hearts.
