🌱 What does soil health have to do with your kid’s summer camp, your pumpkin patch tradition, or the eggs you grabbed last weekend?

Everything.

At The FARM 1780, we believe healthy soil grows more than just food. It grows connection — between people, land, and learning.

That’s why we partner with Soil Health Labs, a research team from Department of Public Health that’s studying how farms like ours can do more with less — less waste, less harm, more impact. And this year, we’re also hosting a USC Honors College student who’s using our farm as the foundation for her senior thesis on regenerative agriculture and community-based farming.

We don’t just talk about sustainability — we dig in. Literally.

So the next time you’re sipping wine under the string lights or watching your kid hold a chicken for the first time, know this: behind every field trip and flower crown, we’re working toward something deeper. Something that leaves the soil — and our community — better than we found it.

Parents of kiddos ages 4 to 6 — this one’s for you!

We’re just two weeks away from our Kindergarten Farm Days, and let’s clear something up real quick:

👉 You do NOT have to be in Lexington One to sign up.

👉 Your child doesn’t even have to be starting kindergarten — it’s open to ALL kids ages 4 to 6 from any school, district, homeschool, or program.

Each day has its own unique theme (worms & planting, rain & seed science, chickens & butter making 🐓🧈🌱), so your child can come for just one or sign up for all three without missing a beat.

It’s the perfect mix of summer camp and back-to-school prep — especially for families who don’t head back to school until a few weeks later. And we don’t typically offer farm camp for this age group, so this is a rare chance for the littles to get in on the fun.

We will NOT be open for u-pick this Saturday as we give the fields—and ourselves—a well-earned break.

It’s been a great summer season—but like I said to our campers yesterday - all good things must come to an end.

After four sessions of summer camp (starting way back in early June), it’s time for a little breather before we move into fig, muscadine, and fall flower season.

In the meantime, we’re gearing up for Kindergarten Farm Days, happening August 4–6!

Lexington One is starting kindergarten with a staggered schedule this year, and we’ve created a full-day farm program just for rising kindergarteners who won’t be in school those first few days. Think summer camp meets back-to-school bridge—with fishing, birdwatching, farm-to-table activities, livestock care, crafts, and classic farm fun.

We’re closing out summer the only way we know how—over fire, with flavor, and surrounded by friends.

But real talk? We’ve still got way too many tickets left for our End-of-Summer BBQ Bash on Saturday July 26… and y’all, this is not the one to sleep on.

We’re trying something new — and we think you’ll love it.

Join us Tuesday (7/8) evening from 6p - 7:30pm for our very first sunset U-pick. Cooler temps. Golden hour light. And a chance to slow down and soak up summer.

Whether you’re coming with the kids or meeting friends for a reset, we’ll have cold drinks for sale and plenty of space to roam.

No reservation needed — come pick blueberries and sunflowers.

New for 2025: Fishing at The FARM 🐟

You asked, and we listened—our 2025 membership now includes access to fishing on designated days and areas of the farm. It’s peaceful, it’s private, and it’s one more way to connect with the land.

That said—we need to be clear about something important.

We are a working farm with active land management, including a depredation permit for deer hunting and participation in SCDNR’s Property Watch program. This means we cannot have unapproved visitors walking the property, especially to fish. It’s not safe, and it’s not permitted.

Trespassing isn’t just a policy issue—it’s a safety risk.

We know it’s tempting when you see a pond and a quiet spot, but please don’t take that chance.

If you love this place and what we’re doing—support it.

A membership helps us maintain this land, care for the animals, and now… offer more perks like this.

Become a member, and we’ll share the gate codes so you can fish safely!
Don’t, and we’ll kindly ask you to leave—with the support of DNR officers if necessary.

Today we’re reminded that America’s freedom was brought forth by ordinary people. Farmers & other tradesmen who picked up their muskets to stand up for what they believed in.

We owe our stars and stripes not just to grand speeches, but to the grit and sacrifice of everyday folks who tended fields by day and defended liberty by night.

This land is rooted in that same spirit of independence, self-reliance, and courage.

Here’s to farmers, freedom that’s homegrown, and the enduring American promise that started in fields much like ours.

We’re heading into another busy season on our 8th-generation family farm and looking for the right people to help us deliver unforgettable experiences—from farm dinners and field trips to weddings, birthdays, and everything in between.

🌱 THIS NEXT PART IS REALLY IMPORTANT:
We’re a small, family-run business with a big heart. Our mission is to connect people to agriculture and each other through meaningful, memory-making events. If that gets you excited, keep reading.

You might be a great fit if you’re the kind of person who:

• Picks up the napkin on the ground—even if they didn’t drop it
• Notices when a guest looks lost and walks them to where they need to go
• Restocks the drink station without being asked
• Wipes down the counters when there’s a lull—not scroll a phone
• Asks “what else needs to be done?” instead of disappearing when your part is finished
• Shows up early, jumps in, and doesn’t need a pep talk to do the basics well
