Another fun night at the Kewaunee Farmers Market for family night!

The weather was perfect, the treats were aplenty and there were smiles all around! Watching children interact with and learn about the animals is such a big part of our mission. These photos speak for themselves…. Pure joy. 🩵

We met some new friends and connected with some old ones…. But the best of the best is hearing “We follow you on social media … we just love your posts!”

That hits home…. We’re just over here livin’ this beautiful life, and it’s an honor that y’all are invested in our journey. We appreciate it … a whole heck of a lot.

Buckle up, friends ... cause today's lesson in Polar Bear ownership centers around hygiene. And I am NOT lying when I tell y'all that the struggle is real. Without being a parent, I can't say for certain... but I'd guess that grooming Moe is like bathing a 140-pound toddler that does NOT want to take a bath (or have their feet touched in ANY way). Sounds SO fun, right?

Okay, okay... we do understand that not all Polar Bears are created equal. And, with that being said, Moe will tell you that his personal take on grooming is 4/10 ... would not recommend. Now... in his defense, he IS eleven ... and big ... and severely anxious around other dogs, so yeah, we get it, Moe.

So, as you can imagine, finding a groomer for Moe has become an exhausting effort. Our bestest groomer is almost an hour away and super busy, so we have tried desperately (for FIVE years) to find someone to accept our big ole Polar Bear for who he is and give him a chance.

And lo and behold... today our efforts were justified! To say I was anxious leading up to Moe's appointment would be an understatement. Okay, if we're being honest, I spent 45 minutes on the phone with this poor girl prior to his appointment to be sure she fully understood what she was getting into. And when the day finally arrived ...

🛁Could Moe get into her tub to be bathed? Not quite
📱Did Mom get a mid-session text to keep her updated? YUP!
💆Did Moe get loved and brushed on his own terms? ABSOLUTELY!
🤔Do we have a plan moving forward to improve his grooming experience? Surely do!

We couldn't be more thankful for Danielle at Peaceful paws grooming spa LLC for her compassion, patience and dedication to Moe today during his appointment. You know she's a good one when she gladly welcomes him back... even if he was a bit crabby and coerced her into grooming him on HIS terms (** read "while he laid down and napped")! Maybe next time we'll get to bath time and nail trims! But for now... it's a step in the right direction, and we couldn't be more thankful to have Danielle alongside on this journey!

Well…. The temps didn’t feel like Christmas, but the festivities and fun surely did!!

The Luxemburg Area Chamber of Commerce puts on one heck of a parade… we’ll DEFINITELY plan better and bring more handouts next year! WOW-ZA!!! Good thing Lily, Olive and Cookie were the stars of the show… maybe no one noticed! 🤷🏼‍♀️

Special thanks to our friend Anne for the use of their trailer and helping put the float together!!! Also, shout out to Amanda, Rhonda, Kevin, Kimberly and Ava (and Anne, of course!!!) for making the parade trek with us!!! We appreciate y’all helping us spread Christmas Cheer AND the mission of The Wish!!!

WOOHOO! Shout out to DENN- Door County for hosting such an amazingly fun and unique fundraiser for us a few weeks ago! We are so thankful for their support... these funds will DEFINITELY be put to good use!

We love checking out all they have to offer at DENN- Door County ... and it's always changing and expanding too! Be sure stop by when you're in the area .... in addition to the create-your-own stations, they have a super cool store built from storage containers, adult swing set, kids' playground, beer/wine, and .... upcoming escape room and corn maze!

This is TRULY a must-visit destination in southern Door County!

☀️ Happy Friday, Friends!! ☀️

This week at The Wish, we had the pleasure of welcoming not one, but TWO, awesome groups of from ESI - Empowering & Supporting Individuals!!

These two summer programs get to enjoy local experiences, even assisting with volunteer projects when the need arises! There were smiles all around with both groups as they met some old friends here and, of course… made some new ones, too!

We are thankful for the exceptional work done by Monday’s group in getting the initial coat of paint on our chicken coop… it was definitely in need of a refresh, so this was a great first Momo step in that process!

As you know, this summer is a busy one here at The Wish. We have a lot of lofty goals in need of accomplishment prior to the winter weather hitting. The good news is, we are offering you all the opportunity to assist in those goals! Next weekend, we are hosting a “Working Weekend” for anyone who might be interested in lending a hand. We will have plenty of projects for all skill levels. Be on the lookout for a sign up form to be posted in the coming days! We hope to see y’all real soon, right here at …
