This news was too good not to share!
It brings us great joy to work with rescues committed to fear and force free methods of training and behavior rehabilitation, regardless of breed!
Crops and Flops Rescue is just such a rescue! Focusing on Pitbull type dogs, they understand that breed type does not dictate learning, training or behavior modification.
Strong breeds do not need a strong hand; they need patient, dedicated and educated owners, and Joanie found just such a fantastic person thanks to the tireless efforts of this rescue!
Congratulations to Joanie and her forever family!
Jovie, Now Joanie, Stays Home! Our long-stay quirky and fun-loving beauty has found her FOREVER!!!!! Woooo hoooo! Joanie came to us from City of Boston Animal Care and Control and was in our rescue for 531 days. You read that right – almost a full year and a half. Joanie is young, gorgeous, and dog friendly, so what gives? Joanie’s first fosters couldn’t provide for her basic needs when she wasn’t adopted out quickly. Because being in a crate for most hours of the day while being given virtually nothing is no place for any living being to thrive. Case in point – Joanie self-mutilated her tail while being left alone. And it took a village to bring her back from the brink. A huge thank you to Joanie’s village! To Julie and Leominster Fitchburg Animal Control for supporting her in her biggest time of need. To Nancy and family for vacation fostering and sounding the alarm that there was a huge issue happening. To Unmistaken Stars Farm Sanctuary, Dog Training & Behavior Consulting and Lazybones Dog Training for their amazing support. To Tender Heart Veterinary Care for their compassionate care for the “tail aftermath”. To Sadie’s Spirit of Rescue Inc for seeing the specialness in her and sponsoring her adoption fee. To Bark at the Moon Photography for the recent photo shoot. And to her second foster family, and now forever family, for being patient and letting Joanie get back to herself. We’re calling it the OJ, or Original Joanie – because this is the deserving soul we initially met at Animal Control. Here she is with her true foster and forever mama, Molleen, founder of the amazing Spot’s Place. while the apple of her eye and forever daddy, Shawn, waits patiently at home. Joanie is an old soul, who thrives with consistency and insists on putting herself to bed at 7pm. There’s a party and it’s 7:02pm? Uh, nope! Jammies on at 5pm and down for the count before Wheel of Fortune. She now nibbles on munchkins from Dunkin Donuts and chicken fries from Burger King while riding up to her lake house in Maine and livin’ it up! Oh, and Joanie has already helped save many pups herself, being the best big foster sister ever to the revolving door of fosters she invites into her home! We are overjoyed at the happy ending to this deserving soul and couldn’t have imagined a more fulfilling life! Congratulations to all!
