Jaws dropped at orientation for BTC's Veterinary Technician program today, as BTC's Foundation Director Dean Fulton shared a big secret with the new cohort: Thanks to a generous anonymous donor, each student is receiving a $7,700 scholarship to help pay for their first year in the program!
"I am beyond ecstatic. I know from experience that the financial burdens we experience while striving to better ourselves can seem ominous, so thank you," new student Chelsea Stickel said after hearing the news. "My goal is to graduate from this program so I can build connections within my community while building programs for people seeking help with their pets, like low-income spay-and-neuter. This amazing donation will alleviate stress so that my success can lead to even more growth in our community. Thank you!"

The beast that is social media- if you don't put it on social media, did you even do it? I have struggled to find the balance in putting myself out there, but have been reminded it is the world we live in now.

I value work/family balance and above all, I value the privacy of my clients and myself. I do not talk about or share the large majority of what I've been up to because I value privacy. The downside of that, is that unless you already know me you probably do not know what I have to offer.

I thought I'd give you a glimpse of what I've been up to most recently

🐎 Rehab colic surgery, rehab knee surgery, rehab tendon and ligament injuries, rehab founder cases rehab starved cryptorchid. I worked as a veterinary technician in sport horse med and love the rewarding feeling when I can help get an athlete back on track after a set back

🐎 Lessons from timid beginners, to helping folks get back in to the groove after decades off, to prepping for breed shows and barrel races

🐎 I pride myself on taking in one or two horses at a time on consignment so I can take the time and effort needed to find them their right person. I can confidently tell you every horse I sell has been at my house, I have put time and can speak for their ability and temperament

🐎 I love to help people find the right horse for them. The buying process can seem overwhelming, particularly if it is a first horse, or horse for a kid in a non horsey family. I have accompanied clients through every step of the process of buying a horse. In the last few months I have had a real diverse group of purchase clients, dressage, hunter/jumper, barrels, pleasure/eq, family horses, I have made some really great friends while looking at horses together

🐎 Condition horses, get them ready for their summer, ready for the trails or their show season, keep them going while their owners are out of town. I love to see people be able to hop on and enjoy their horses.

🐎 Manage mares, foal out babies, halter broke, trailer broke, including some of the biggest names in NW Thoroughbred racing at the moment. Including 2x WA horse of the year who over winters at home with me. Talk about rewarding!

My biggest goals are to get the right horses under the right people, to add good humans and kind horses to my tribe. The whole point is to love your horse and have fun 💜
