Built an enrichment item with my 3 “supervisors”. It took forever! They kept stealing my tools, parts, and intervening for snuggles and constant inspections of my work. Do you need a supervisor of your own? I have 3 available looking for forever homes to inspect and provide constant love and nuisance 💖❤️🩷🥰. www.moroshepherds.com for more info.

Mina and Mako (Poe x Cloud babies) out "socializing" today. Socializing, to me, does not mean greeting other dogs or people, or even engaging with anyone else other than myself- this is not the goal. I believe that the label of "socializing" is really a poor choice of word to describe what we should be doing with our puppies. Instead, socializing is really the idea of my dogs being comfortable training, playing, or otherwise socializing with ME, in any environment we happen to be in. Puppies need to have exposure to new people, places, and things in order to build library of experiences in which to help them make sound decisions in the future, but exposure does not equal a need for engagement with that external stimuli. My goal is for my puppies to ignore most everything and focus on me. We are constantly moving, and I discourage the pups from fixating on any one specific thing, but I do allow them to sniff around and quickly check the pee-mail that is posted by other dogs in public spaces. I am confident and at ease in these spaces, and my puppies feel this and it helps them feel secure. Sometimes a puppy might begin a new adventure a little wary, but they quickly transition to becoming confident and at ease after just a minute or two. I believe my comfort in the space and also them trusting that I will not let anything happen to them quickly washes away any wariness. Also, I always "socialize" when pups are hungry, so engagement with food is more eager. I advocate heavily for my dogs in public and I am super thankful that my town has wonderful people that respect a dog's space- they always ask from afar if they may come up and greet my dogs. I will let people quickly say hello but only if the pups seem to want this, and I do not allow strange dogs to come up to my puppies. There are many photos in this post most show the pups totally engaged with me in a novel environment, and doing so with only their boring old kibble. I am so proud of them. 11 weeks old tomorrow and growing like weeds.

Mako, a Poe x Cloud kiddo, at 10 weeks asleep in his toy box. His Uncle Max, looking at him and probably rolling his eyes. Max is also a Moro babe, Nova x Natus from 2019. They are loved by the Bunnell Family in San Diego.

I wanted to say a bit about the Old Man, aka Natus, Toilet Paper Santa, and The Meatball. His amazing health and character shines through in his progeny and now his grandchildren. Open and friendly, but with a natural protection instinct in all situations that make him the perfect shepherd for all occasions. He will follow you to the bathroom, and if he is dressed as Toilet Paper Santa, has got you, uh, covered 🥰🤣. He just turned 12 April 21, 2025 and I hope he lives forever. He is slowing down, has a bit of arthritis that flairs up in wet weather, doesn’t hear as well as he used to, and usually when we toss balls for him he misses and gets bonked in the face, but otherwise he is the same as when he first came to us. Anyone who has a Moro kid in the last 7 years should know that his existence has made the WSS breed better overall. Thank you Natus and happy birthday ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
