A lot of people have acquired new aquariums this Christmas. Thats great! We love helping new faces explore the hobby. It can be very fun and rewarding, and we want to help you and your family have the best experience.

While we always have and always will do our best to guide you along, it's not humanly possible for our staff to give every individual a 100% complete crash course on every detail surrounding their pet situation. As our posted signs reiterate, it is your responsibility to thoroughly research and understand the required preparation, ongoing care, and compatibility for every little life you decide to bring into your home. This means reading and comprehending, and continuing to do so. This also means looking for science based facts and not just opinions that back up what you want to hear. When we ask questions about your setup or advise against something, it's because we care about these animals and we want both them and you to have success.

Our Story

Pure Pet's goal is to provide the proper supplies and information for owners to give their pets long, happy and healthy lives. We carry many species of animals which have been carefully researched and chosen for their personality, compatibility with humans, and ease of care in captivity.

Pure Pet opened March 6, 2010, and our second child was born just 3 weeks later. Our family has grown along with our store. We moved from our tiny 600sf store on State Street to our current location on Penn Ave. and our three children can often be found “helping” us or customers around the store.

In May of 2017 we branched out, and up, adding products for green-minded humans on the second floor of our building. This division is called Greenest - Living Thoughtfully. You can find products for daily living with fair trade ingredients originating from around the world, as well as beautiful unusual and rare tropical plants suitable for the home or terrarium.
