With kitten season nearly in full swing, we wanted to post a PSA regarding the clinic’s role in this. In years past, Dr. Griffin has sometimes taken on kittens to foster. She will NOT be able to take any litters on this year. She has several chronically sick adult cats right now and is already overwhelmed at the level of care required.
With that being said, there are things YOU can do at home if you have an expectant cat at or around your home. Stock up on kitten formula, bottles, syringes, etc. Research the details about frequency of feedings, how to feed, stimulating to use the bathroom, etc. on www.kittenlady.org.
Tiny steps of preparation can go a long way in fostering baby kittens! It takes a village to care for our local feline population, and Dr. Griffin truly needs everyone’s help in this. And finally, if you have a cat that you suspect is pregnant, call our local rescues and spay/neuter facilities to get them spayed!! A single ounce of prevention….well, you know how it goes.
