For your consideration:
“Malibu in Motion” 8 year old 16.2h OTTB. Raced a handful of times, came off the track and had a year in the fields to decompress before his current owner purchased him “lightly re-started.” Unfortunately he and his current person are just not the right match at this point in time.
He has competed successfully for a season at the starter level of eventing (his owner wasn’t looking to climb up the levels quickly, so we have taken our time with him)
Malibu has 3 even and correct gaits, scoring very well in his dressage tests, and is scopey, brave and careful over the jumps. Has more whoa that go, but can get stronger over jumps (goes in a Waterford D ring)He is confident about all things Jump, including water, ditches and banks on XC. While most of his experience has been in eventing at this point, I could also see him being very successful in the jumper ring as well.
Malibu is very reasonable, and talented, but still a green horse and best suited for someone with a some green horse experience. He has a sweet disposition and would really like someone to dote on him and tell him he’s as pretty as he believes he is. He is a cribber. Located just outside Charlotteville, VA. Rare Opportunity at Dappir Ridge Eventing!!

ON SITE full or partial lease of 2 special horses. Required weekly lesson in addition to other rides during the week depending on the lease agreement.

1. 12 year old 16.2 h TB gelding. Archie has a lot to offer someone wanting to learn about basic dressage. Lovely and light in the bridle, 3 extremely comfortable gaits and more whoa than go! He is super fun out and about hacking as well. Archie has loads of experience through training level eventing, however an injury about 1.5 years ago will prevent him from competing at that level again. He has had the proper time off, rehabbed and is ready (and has been!) back to work. Our hope is he can do some low level eventing again, but it will take time to get him fit and strong enough. This is a really special opportunity for someone!!

2. 12 year old Connemara cross mare. 15.1 h. Super fun, safe reliable partner! She has only competed at some unrecognized events, but shows up for work everyday and loves to jump! 3 comfortable gaits and goes in a rubber snaffle. (Pretty cute on the flat as well!) Could easily go BN at some point. She would love a kid, or smaller enthusiastic adult as her next friend. Her current rider is slated for knee surgery at the beginning of July and we love her so much, we just don’t want to send her home!!!

"Galvani" is a 14 year old 16.2 h. TB gelding available for a half lease. Gal is a funny guy with loads of personality.

He has had experience in many disciplines, but is enjoying the jumper ring at the moment. Has also been successful in the hunter and equitation ring as well. He has a good jump and excellent lead change.

Suitable for Novice-Advanced riders wanting to jump 2'6"-3'. Flexible riding schedule with current co-leaser.

ThisDuckCanFly

JC ThisDuckCanFly, “Duck”, is a 2014 15.3 big bodied TB gelding with one of the best brains we’ve seen yet. He had nearly a whole year of let down to be a horse and for his body and feet to rest and he has come back into work like the solid citizen he is.
Duck has three balanced and correct gaits, and has taken to jumping with a desire to please and do it right (bonus points that he has a super cute jump!). Very clean and tight legs, and is quite sound.
He has been on a few off property trips and has been a gentleman. He has been trotting small courses and been through some small grid as well.
Duck hacks out like a pro alone or with others, but truly seems to enjoy the ring work too. He has also been ridden by our 16 year old working student as well as others and goes just as politely and willingly. He is easy to handle in the barn and really seems to enjoy being loved on.

We are looking to add a very important member to our team. We need to have someone willing to work on weekends. Yes, this means Saturday and Sunday! (not a full day). Duties include the usual feeding, mucking, turning in and out and general care for a great group of horses. (and people) Specific hours and other duties can be discussed upon interest in this position. There could also be other days added during the week, but my main concern is weekend days at the moment, as we plan to be on the road at shows several weekends a month this spring/summer/fall. If you can't/aren't willing to work weekends, please don't inquire. Must have a valid drivers license, reliable transportation, preferable previous horse experience, be reliable and have a strong work ethic. Please DM me or better yet, text me (540-290-8282). While our Virginia crew was dealing with less than ideal conditions this past weekend, lucky Frijole was busy gaining experience at the beginner novice level in sunny Florida. So much thanks to Gabby Dickerson for doing such a lovely job working with this special young horse this winter and giving him a confident and correct introduction to Eventing. I think he might like it, and be good at it as well! It’s hard to believe he’s only 4.

Guide Me Home (Leo) is a 2014 16.3 dark bay TB gelding with a personality to die for! Sweet and quiet he is a dream to have in the barn, and will stand like a complete gentleman in crossties for the vet, farrier, clipping, you name it.

Leo had the good fortune of having his lack of speed recognized at an early age and was retired sound off the track with only one career start. He has three lovely gaits and a lovely jump, though a bit peeky at times. He is very honest and careful, truly wanting to do what is asked of him, but he would benefit from a confident jump rider as he is still green over fences.

Leo has successfully competed in some entry level eventing, combined tests, and hunter paces, and confidently hacks out alone or in company. He completed his first Beginner Novice HT in September finishing in third place with a dressage score in the low 20's! With his lovely way of going on the flat we think he would excel in a dressage focused home or eventing.

Leo's only maintenance requirement is that he stay with a good farrier and on a short and regular shoeing schedule.

Priced in the very low 5 figures, his owner is open to a lease to buy option and would love for him to stay close. But most important is that Leo find an absolute 5 star home with his new person.

Congrats again to the infamous Robbie Jones and Dr. Kelly Giunta for their 3rd place finish in the 2020 Eventing division and 6th place finish in the 2020 Show Hunters division at the Retired Racehorse Project Thoroughbred Makeover last month!

Team Dappir Ridge had a wonderful time at the Virginia Horse Trials on Halloween weekend! With a large group of students, Kiki once again managed to somehow be in multiple places at once, juggling them all!

In the Beginner Novice, young Frances Lawson competed in her very first recognized event with her wise companion, Cameron Creek, finishing on their dressage score! Also in the Beginner Novice, Adriana Nannini piloted her 4 year old, Wicked Soprano, around the mare’s first recognized event, completing the weekend confidently.

In the Novice, the BIG WINNER of the weekend, to no one’s surprise, was Kelly Giunta with the infamous Robbie Jones! That horse is absolutely on fire this season, winning practically every show or event he competed in. One added tidbit is that Dr. Giunta also worked at the show all weekend, performing her veterinarian duties as well as competing her horse! Impressive!

Also in the Novice was Hunter Holden with Lucky Thirteen, completing their first Novice together in style! Lucy Gordon and her own Swan’s Alexandrite completed the Novice as well, with clear jumping rounds.

Ruth McCommas Cruz with her lovely gelding, Achiever’s Tribute, were on their way to a top finish in the Training division, when an unfortunate slip around a turn on cross-country ended their day early. Both walked away unscathed, and will be back to fight another day!

Also in the Training was Alex Austin, who piloted Andrea Cushing’s Gargamellow around his first Training level event! The pair stormed around cross-country like bosses. Needless to say, Andrea is very proud of her boy!

Most importantly, the Dappir Ridge mascot, Rocket the Russell, participated in the doggie costume contest, aptly appearing as Baby Yoda. Behold the cuteness.
