Ritch is one of eleven puppies who came to us back in April. From the start, we knew some of these pups might grow up in our system simply because they don’t have the “look” that typically draws adopters’ eyes first. Sadly, we were right. Ritch and his sister Lyn have been overlooked time and time again, despite being wonderful dogs in every way.
This past weekend, a loving foster family opened their home to Ritch, knowing they couldn’t adopt but wanting to give him a break from shelter life. They already have two dogs, one laid back and one full of energy and Ritch met them both right in the middle. He was an absolute gentleman, well mannered, adaptable, and kind.
When the weekend came to an end, his foster mom brought him back with misty eyes. She said she couldn’t understand why there wasn’t a line out the door for him.
That’s the hardest part of fostering is falling in love but having to say goodbye. But even a short trip outside the shelter makes a world of difference for dogs like Ritch. His weekend away gave us so much more to share with potential adopters: he’s social, gentle, and ready to be the perfect companion.
Now, it’s time for Ritch to find the forever family he deserves. He doesn’t demand attention, but he quietly steals hearts with his steady charm. Let’s not let him grow up waiting any longer.
If you’re looking for a loyal, easygoing, and well-rounded pup, come meet Ritch at the Montgomery Humane Society. He’s ready to finally go home……..for good. ❤️
