Dragonfly Farms Dragonfly Farms is a collaborated group of farms in North Central Florida and South Georgia. Hello and welcome to Dragonfly Farms.

Our goal is to introduce the performance side of our breed to the local population and help you find your match. If you're not committed to owning a horse just yet we can set you up in an affordable lease or lesson program. We specialize in Arabian horses but have contacts in all breeds of horse. We are managed by a group of Arabian Horse professionals who have generations of experience in the hor

se industry and we'd love to have the opportunity to share our knowledge base with you. We have two locations, in Suwannee county (FL), to serve you. We travel to several events a year, including open/4H shows, trail rides, gymkhana events and some local rated (AHA) shows. Watch this page for news and upcoming events.

Platinum Riders Labor Day Ride well always be our "home".

Kali, Cherry and I are in this video.

So, that year, a golf cart spooked Kali and she pulled me and Cherry down a steep ditch. I mean, like Cherry and I rolled down the ditch as the golf cart and the filly left the scene. When Cherry got up she also went a few yards.

The young men I was riding with caught my horses and watched me get back on with great interest.

Same ride, Kelli and Calypso fell in a water hole and had to have the trailer come get them.

This year I've ridden Kali a little bit at home. She's going to be a nice, fashionable, heart of a lion, war mare.

But, we just trail riders. 🤷‍♀️

The other thing I bought at Needful Things, that I wasn't sure I needed in my life, a pool side holder thing a majig.

I'm including pics of different ones. You can guess which one is mine.

Last month I visited Hazelhurst GA and had some time to kill. I found Needful Things Antiques & Flea Market right by the venue I was visiting and I had some time to kill so I ventured in.

One of the booths had this saddle and some misc tack. I took a long time thinking about it and touching it before I decided to bring it home. (I didn't even have to pull any pranks.)

The fenders were definitely going to need to be replaced or rebuilt. It had rub marks on it. It has chew marks on it. The fleece is rubbed off considerably.

But the tree is solid and there's a lot of life in the leather.

I documented the fender replacement process because a lot of people don't know it's just that easy.

Growing up I spent HOURS rebuilding tack (replacing broken parts) over long snowy winters. It's something that I enjoy doing.

Comments will be under each photo.

I half way threw some measurements in there because I know people are nosey. I personally didn't even sit in the saddle as part of my buying process.

Stole these pics of Omen from a public space.

We never stop celebrating the horses we've created. 🥰

We try to post horse's names here on the page so that if they go to new homes their new family can type their registered name or barn name into the Facebook search bar and get a little bit of history on them.

Stormie and I survived the local trail ride last weekend. I had planned to pony her off of Koi because the last time she was out she was a sasafras.

My coworker happened to be attending the event so I ended up letting him ride Koi and I bit the bullet and rode Stormie.

They are both really too fat to "run and buck". 😂

The trail was really nice and I was able to park under some trees at the top of a spring head so it was cool, for August in Florida.

We rode thru a herd of Cracker cattle that were high headed and had their tails over their backs and we also rode along the interstate a little bit. So now when I'm going down the interstate I can say I know what goes on on that other side of the fence. 😆

Oh, look who it is lol

Some of you already knew that The Swamp Donkeys have their own Alcatraz.

Originally built about 15 years ago to maybe one day work some cattle in, it has stood the test of time thru many hurricanes.

While it hasn't seen a ton of cows, it has been a valuable tool in weaning foals every Fall.

Today our colts are getting halters on so they can have their Coggins pulled next week. They probably won't be turned back out with their halters. They have a couple more months before they're weaned.

Recently our Cracker Cowboy community lost one of it's most beloved leaders in a very traumatic accident. A few of the underlings vowed to try to keep the traditions instilled in them alive.

This weekend was the first time our little group worked cows since the passing. It was emotional.
.. and when I say "our group" let me explain that I am in no way a traditional Cracker Cowboy. I just happened to have met most of the folks on this crew at one point or another and they honored me by allowing me to join them.

When people hear "we worked cows today" they often think of cowboys riding across beautiful landscapes as they es**rt the cattle to the stockyards.

In reality, most times we work cows we are herding them into a trap, sorting them, running them down an alley and then tending them in a squeeze and/or head shoot.

So this weekend we were sorting out the bigger calves who are going to market, tagging the little ones who's ears are long enough now, fly spraying, vaccinating and castrating.

There was a horse involved. He worked less than 30 minutes. We were there all day.

The other horse involved tried to buck his rider off so he was standing tied most of the day.

If I am more accepted into this particular group of day workers and cattlemen I will probably start carrying me horse(s) to different spots. Even if they stand tied all day it will be a good experience for them.

Here are some pics of the mixed breed cattle we were working with.

I was above them in the alley so the pics make them look "small".

A little bit of a photo dump, some cross post.
