This is Evan & River on adoption day, April 16, 2020!

I am tickled to death to tell you that, today, my two former “feral” sisters have been adopted together and are in their new home tonight.

Here is the story of 2 Bichon Frisé girls, rescued several years ago from a local shelter. Sheree’s Dog Rescue cannot tag there usually as we are incorporated but not 501(c)(3) and never will be.

I got an email from that shelter because they took in 5 feral Bichon Frisé females from a woman who could not handle them, we were told. No rescue wanted them because of how they were. I named them: Berlin, Evan, River, Poet and Munich.

Two were pregnant and one, Poet, was obviously in**ed. After several months of being fostered, we started to see some improvement. The first one to be adopted was Munich, then Berlin. Poet passed away in her sleep and we never knew why but she was the one we thought was in**ed.

Evan & River are full blood sisters and were bonded. They were the 2 most fearful and unsocialized. They stayed with us two more months.

Then one day, we received an application for both of the girls. These applicants came to meet the girls and were told they were a high flight risk, gave them instructions on how to get the accustomed to their new home and told them they would need to be very patient.

The Slowbes adopted Evan & River and did everything we recommended to do. Since the adoption 5-6 years ago, they moved to Arizona and send me updates on the girls.

They went from being feral, scared, nippy, unsocialized to being friendly, playful, happy, heathy.

Her family gave the girls love, patience, security, training and here are the results:

Hi! LUCKIE here!

It’s almost Christmas! 🎄 Are you a last-minute shopper or are you all ready? Did you get toys for your pups? Treats?

I gave my wish list to mom for her to give to Santa. She said: “LUCKIE, all there is on your list is FOOD!” 🍱

Well I know that! 🙄 I told her I’m too old for toys and I certainly WILL NOT fight over a bleeping toy! JELLY can have all of them. I will stand my ground for food though! 😼

So, I barked that if she did not want to give my list to Santa, I will run it to him myself! 😤 And just to annoy me, she said: “I’m not sure Santa will make it down here LUCKIE, it’s 80 degrees F today. Santa is not used to that warm Texas weather.” 😱

I barked: “Are you kidding me? 😲You said he rides a sleigh with a bunch of deers pulling him up in the sky. All he has to do is aim for our chimney and throw my food down in it. He doesn’t even have to get out of the sleigh and he would be on his merry way. When there’s a will there’s a way!”

She gave me THAT look like I’m from another galaxy. 😳 I know she wants to pull one of my legs. I certainly will sleep close to the chimney tonight in case my bro SOYBEAN gets to it before I do. He loves to eat as much as I do. 😁

Hey there! LUCKIE here!

We have an update on ZOEY. The bloodwork results came back and it’s pretty good! She is scheduled to have her mouth taken care of on Tuesday.

She is still coughing so we hope she will feel better by Tuesday. 🤞🏻

I am a bit sad tonight cuz mom told me that ZOEY’s vet bill will be pretty high, a couple thousand bones 😱

Mom said she only has $268 in donations in for her surgeries. She said it Christmas in a few days and people must be busy planning and buying food and gifts. She said we have over 13,200 followers. Can you imagine if all these people would give $0.50 for ZOEY, it would be AWESOME! We would have enough for her and even treat another one!

UPDATE ON ZOEY:

Hiiiiii! LUCKIE here!

ZOEY had bloodwork done today and mom will have results tomorrow. In the meantime, she is isolated at the vet because of kennel cough 😷

Her mouth is very painful and seems like she hasn’t been eating very well. She was given hard food with a painful mouth. 🙄

She is currently eating soft food like she’s been deprived of food for a long time! I couldn’t stand it! 😲 😱

If she is better during the weekend, she will have a dental on Monday. 🤞🏻
Her mouth smells really bad!

Probably two weeks later, her mammary cysts will be removed. BELLA had that done recently too. She is doing very well now though.

This costs many kibbles and bones!

NEW ARRIVAL:

ZOEY, older Chihuahua girl, 7-8 pounds.

Our vet called today and asked for our help for this girl. She was brought in by her owner to be euthanized. The person said she couldn’t cope.

ZOEY was passed around after her former owner died. Nobody in the family wanted her and the family member who took her, threatened to dump her outside and be rid of her. So, since a few weeks, that last person had ZOEY, who developed kennel cough.

She is coughing a storm. Also, the vet said her mouth is painful as her teeth are really bad. She also has two tiny mammary tumors. Good news is she is heartworm negative and spayed. The vet refused to euthanize because of that as it is easily fixable and she can have several more years of good life to live.

She will have bloodwork done tomorrow and x-rays to be sure she is good for surgery. If she is, she will have a dental next week.

This girl has been thrown around and neglected since a couple years. She loves to be with people, regardless of how they mistreated her.

Treatment plan:
- bloodwork
- x-rays
- dental cleaning
- mammary tumor removal

Her skin will also be treated for infection.

ZOEY deserves to be loved and cared for.
