The mission of Gibson County Animal Services is two-fold. First, we seek to educate the public on the importance of proper animal care and responsible pet ownership so the need for stray and lost animals to be brought to the shelter can be reduced or eliminated. Second, We seek to ensure the animals residing at the shelter are safe, happy and healthy while they are awaiting new homes. Gibson County Animal Services ( G.C.A.S ) a private non-profit organization providing, animal control services, was established on July 18th, 1996. Our facility serves as a temporary home for thousands of stray, injured, or abandoned animals each year. The staff and volunteers of Gibson County Animal Services believe that education plays such a vital role in the community, that programs within the local schools have been instituted to achieve our mission. We believe that these goals, when met, will make for a healthier, happier community, not only for our two legged residents, but for our four legged friends as well. G.C.A.S is on-call 24 hours a day for emergencies. Our responsibilities include stray animal pick-ups, animal turn-ins by their owners, investigations of animal abuse complaints, and all animal rescues. We also offer owner surrender services for a fee to Gibson County residents when space allows. Some of the services we provide are fee based. G.C.A.S Is an Open Admission Shelter. So when full we strive to work with rescues and fosters to try to save lives. GCAS does not euthanize for lack of space or time limits. GCAS does euthanize for chronic illness without relief from pain or hope of recovery, severe life threatening injury, loss of quality of life and any animal which exhibits a danger to other animals or human life.
