🚨 We Need Adopters & Fosters 🚨
As many of you saw in our recent post, animals are being dumped at our shelter without notice. And while we are doing everything in our power to help them, we are out of space, out of foster homes, and we're at a point where we are unable to take in any more animals at all.

We are over capacity—and we’re not alone. Shelters everywhere are overwhelmed. The heartbreaking truth is: we simply cannot keep up with the number of animals needing help due to constant intake, unplanned litters, and community abandonment.

💔 These animals have no voice.
💔 They don’t understand why they’re here.
💔 They’re scared, stressed, and stuck in kennels we don’t even have room for.

If you’ve ever thought about fostering or adopting—now is the time.
Even helping one animal can open space for the next one who desperately needs us.

We need:
🏠 Fosters willing to take in kittens and adult cats
🐾 Adopters ready to give a shelter dog or cat a forever home

🚗 Tucker’s Daycation with Kim & Pat! 🐾

Adoptable Tucker had his turn for a special Daycation, and he was such a good boy! He did great in the car, enjoying the ride and watching the world go by out the window. 🌍💨

He joined Kim and Pat for a few errands and a little walk in Dwight, where he showed off his excellent leash manners. At their house, Tucker was curious, but quickly settled in—much calmer than he is in the shelter.

He loved sitting in laps, giving sweet kisses, and soaking up all the belly rubs he could get. 🐶❤️

This is not rescue. This is not helping. This is not okay.

This morning, we arrived to find this crate full of cats and kittens left in the grass outside our shelter. No call. No message. Just a handwritten note and a group of frightened animals, left in the heat overnight without knowing if or when someone would find them.

We are a small shelter with limited staff, limited space, and limited resources. We do everything we can for the animals in our care—but we are at capacity, and have been for a long time. In fact, almost every shelter in the country is overwhelmed right now, and it's because of one growing issue: irresponsible pet ownership.

Every time a pet is left unspayed or unneutered, every time someone gives away a kitten for free without ensuring it’s fixed, and every time someone walks away instead of stepping up—it adds to the crisis.

We are the ones trying to clean it up—but we’re drowning.

When animals are dumped like this:
🚫 We don’t know their health status
🚫 We have no proper quarantine space
🚫 We are forced to scramble for housing, which often puts others at risk
🚫 It disrupts our ability to care for the animals already here

We understand life gets hard. But if you truly care about animals, please contact us first. We will try to help—but we can’t do that if we don’t even know they’re coming. Dumping animals is illegal, dangerous, and makes an already bad situation even worse.

This isn't just our problem—it’s a community problem. And we need your help to fix it.

✅ Spay and neuter your pets
✅ Don't give away unfixed animals
✅ Call us if you need help
✅ Never dump an animal—especially not in the dark, with no warning

We are here because we care. But we can't do this alone.

It’s me, Radio, just here to interrupt your scrolling with my handsome face and wiggly butt! I’m 2.5 years old, full of personality, and one of the longer-term dogs here at LCHS.

I love toys, making doggy friends, and turning boring days into adventures. My adoption fee is $225, and I come fully loaded: neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on all my vaccines.

So… what do you say? Wanna stop scrolling and start throwing a ball for me instead? 😉
