Our cats come to us through transfers from high-kill shelters. We work closely with Cook and DuPage county animal controls, along with other animal controls throughout the state to give unwanted cats a second chance. We pride ourselves in taking the time and effort to determine what is best for each cat that comes into our care. We are a no-kill and all of our cats are fully vetted (altered, vaccinated, and microchipped) prior to adoption. If you are interested in adopting your new family member, you've come to the right place! Our People:

The Board Members of St. Sophia’s Forgotten Felines have over 25 years of service in feline welfare combined. They come from various backgrounds including marketing, publishing, business, web-design, librarianship, and more.

🌟 A Heartfelt Thank You to Royal Canin and Rescue Pack! 🌟

We’re sending out a huge thank you to Royal Canin and our friends at Rescue Pack for their generous donation of Urinary SO food for the cats in our care!

In recent months, we’ve taken in several cats who were surrendered to Chicago Animal Care and Control for urinary issues. These are often very treatable conditions—with the right antibiotics and a proper diet, many cats go on to live long, healthy lives.

One of those cats is sweet Mingo, a senior who was brought to CACC with blood in his urine. After some much-needed medical attention and a lot of love, Mingo is doing great—but he’ll need to stay on a urinary support diet for the rest of his life to stay healthy.

Thanks to this donation, Mingo and other cats like him will have the nutritional support they need to thrive. 💙 We’re so grateful to Royal Canin and Rescue Pack for helping us provide specialized care to the cats who need it most.

The kitties had a great time at Wild Birds Unlimited Joliet today, but sadly, seems the heat scared off any potential families as we had no adoptions. 😿

However, they still had a blast hanging out with all the staff and running around getting into all kinds of hijinks!

Birds and cats may seem like an unusual partnership, but we have a common goal, get cats adopted into loving indoor only homes and off the streets.

Did you know its illegal in most of Illinois for your cat to go outside? Not only is it illegal, it’s important to keep them inside for their own sake. Cats are much safer indoors (as you may have guessed from this heat today, whew!) from weather conditions, predators, cars, etc. You know who else benefits from your cat living their best life indoors? THE LOCAL BIRDS!!! Cats decimate the bird population. Birds are already in danger due to habitat loss. A few simple things can make a huge difference for your local wildlife. Plant some native plants to the area, provide bird baths to drink and bathe in, provide shelter in the form of some adorable bird houses, put out bird seed, and of course, keep your cats inside. The birds will thank you for it! 🪺🐦‍⬛
