Sierra's Equine Sports Therapy Certified Equine Bodyworker, Equine Biologist and nutritionist. 20 years experience helping the Equine athlete perform at their peak.

I believe in a wholistic approach to therapy in treating animals to help them feel and perform at their very best! Horses have been my whole life I was practically born on a horse. All through high-school I was a 3 sport athlete and I managed to keep my horses ridden and competing in peewee rodeos then barrel racing. Being a human athlete I understand how important it is to be in shape to compete.

I understand if you are in pain you can't perform at your best. My goals were to pursue ways to help my Equine partners after school. After a bad slip during a barrel run, finding someone to adjust my horse was more difficult than I thought. I sought out schools to attend. I found an amazing school in Canada for Equine Sports Therapy. Two months of intense studies followed by a month of hands on training earned me my certification for sports Therapy. After practicing on my own horses and noticing a huge improvement in their performance I offered my services to the public.

15 years and thousands of horses later I still love helping new clients and current ones keep their horses performing. In addition to my Biology Degree, I have years of
continuing education as well as experience breeding riding and training horses. I am also a graduate of the Oregon Farrier school. I keep horses balanced from head to tail. The old saying no foot no horse is so true!

Attention Central Oregon horse owners:
I have been getting numerous calls about people needing a good horse bodyworker for the area and if I will be returning soon. I will visit occasionally but have no plans of returning. I am willing to train 1 or 2 people if interested. I can train all the bookwork online and I can either visit central Oregon for the hands on training or you can visit Arizona. Things to keep in mind before inquiring
* training will cost 20k base price (yes this is a lot of money, however any talented, motivated individual looking to make this a full time career will make that back in their first few months)
* you must have a lot of horse experience, (horse sense is absolutely required and it takes many years to aquire good horse sense so only inquire if you have it)
* you have to be self motivated, (getting back to clients in a reasonable fashion and being proactive about helping their horses is a must)
* you basically operate like a horseshoer
This can be a very rewarding, lucrative career that is always interesting and fulfilling. Pm me if you think this is something you might be interested in

Does your horse shake their heads or refuse to turn one direction. This could be why.

Does your horse shake their heads or refuse to turn one direction. This could be why.

Did you know that the first and second cervical in a horses neck are called the Atlas and Axis? These hollow vertebrae allow enough space for the movement in the neck and the spinal nerves to pass through them.

The atlas is smaller than the axis and has wings on either side that can be felt by placing hands on either side of the neck. The atlas connects to the skull at the occiput to allow a horse to nod its head.

Now imagine these vertebrae misaligned and impinging on the nerves within. How do you think this affects a horses ability to function with a massive "headache"?

Classic signs a horse is misaligned at the atlas or axis are head shaking while riding, head shy, carrying head to one side or the other, refusing to turn, or refusing a bit.

So when you hear someone say my horse is out in the poll, which can't be moved, what they really mean is my horse's atlas or axis is out. Knowledge for the day.

If you'd like Sierra to come evaluate your horses message us and we'll get you on the schedule.

Have a fantastic day!
