Located in beautiful Denver, Colorado, Bel-Rea Institute is one of the largest and oldest veterinary technician schools in the United States. General classes such as math, chemistry, medical terminology and technical writing provide a solid foundation for more advanced coursework. ology to prepare you for the scientific part of becoming a veterinary technician. Applied classes in large animal medicine, surgery, laboratory and treatment procedures, and emergency room procedures, give you the hands-on experience you need to prepare for a rewarding career. Internships during the last quarter of the program allow you to work with actual patients in real-life situations – essential preparation for working with animals and their owners as a veterinary technician. Bel-Rea offers solid academic courses, hands-on training in our advanced training facilities, and personal attention from experienced faculty and staff.

☀️🐾 Hot dog summer? Let’s keep it safe.
Summer’s all about sunshine, hikes, and dog park hangs — but it’s also the busiest season for emergency vets, and heatstroke is a major reason why.

📈 The facts:
🔥 Vets see 5x more heatstroke cases during heatwaves 1
🚗 1 in 10 vets have treated a dog left in a hot car 1
🐶 Flat-faced breeds (like pugs & bulldogs) are 2x more likely to suffer heatstroke 2
💀 1 in 4 dogs with heatstroke don’t survive 1
💦 Vet claims for heatstroke spike 78% between May–August in the U.S. 3

Heatstroke can hit in just 10–15 minutes — especially in cars or direct sun. Even with windows cracked, temps inside a car can hit 122°F+ in 30 minutes 3.

🚫 Don’t risk it.
✅ Keep your pup cool with shade, water, and rest breaks.
🕶️ Walk early or late, not mid-day.
🐾 Use the 7-second rule for hot pavement.

Colorado’s Front Range is gorgeous☀️ — but it’s also home to rattlesnakes, and they don’t play. One bite can mean serious pain, swelling, tissue damage, and even life-threatening complications for your pet. 💔

Here’s how to keep your furry BFF safe:
🔗 Keep them leashed on hikes
🚫 Avoid rocky outcrops and tall grass
👀 Stay alert — rattlesnakes usually don’t want drama
🏥 If you think your pet got bit, get to a vet ASAP

🐶Vet bills for snakebites can be $$$ and even antivenin isn’t always a guaranteed fix. Prevention is everything. Summer’s for sunshine, not snakebites. Stay safe, stay smart, and keep those tails wagging! 🌄
