Cutie pie Athena enjoys some quiet reading time at camp! 🤓

Finding the right speed of enrichment for each dog we meet is always such a fun & often unexpected journey! Miss Athena joined our day camp services in June, and when she was first dropped off, she was a little curious about her new environment, and a whole lot interested in where mom had gone. She slowly warmed up during her activities and as she enjoyed some solo time playing 'office assistant'. To our surprise, we discovered she really enjoyed being softly spoken to: the gentle, unobtrusive engagement of reading a book aloud to her allowed her to get out of her shell on her own terms, and before we knew it, she was grinning away and approaching for pets and love!

Whether it's your more typical doggy outlets of sniffy walks and fetch, or something a little more out of the box, there is no better feeling than finding the activities that let every dog feel fulfilled in their daily life. 😊

Our DOGS deserve summer fun, too! We kicked off July day camp groups after a refreshing week off last week. ☀️🏖️

🧐 What is day camp? We offer a structured full or half day program for dogs who would like well-rounded enrichment and social activity. This takes place in our current facility space on Riverview Drive, and transportation is available! 🚗

Each dog receives individual outings, decompression, exercise, mental stimulation, practice around people/dogs WITHOUT interaction, and of course, socializing with other dogs. We tend to primarily see anxious, young, boisterous, or otherwise behaviorally complex dogs in this group that wouldn't thrive in a typical daycare environment. We are SO PROUD of the massive progress we see in dogs through this service which prioritizes behavioral welfare FIRST of all dogs. We also serve households who would like their dog to develop quality social skills, even if they don't also present with behavioral challenges. All dogs are screened and matched to groups before enrolling.

July 4th is a Peak Demand Holiday over here, meaning we classify it as a holiday in our system! Our office is closed today, but services run 6am-11pm, 365 days per year. Inquisitive young kitts Pippin and Nugget are always a blast to hang out with!

Did you know we have kitty-specific, discounted vacation packages? While cats may enjoy their alone time as much as the rest of us, they can definitely get lonely when their humans are away. Adding some extra time to their routine care visits can make all the difference - Pippin and Nuggest certainly appreciate the 'upgrade' for some extra time for play hunting and affection! 😸

Rosie's people met with us recently to talk over her field trip and day camp plans with some observations we've made. Together with the notes from home, we adjusted her activity plan at day camp and protocol for her field trip outings to address her frustration barking behavior. ✅

So far so good—per Rosie's humans, they're seeing the results: "We have noticed some changes at home too. Last night I had her out in the backyard when my neighbor came outside, 3 people walked by on the trail, and 2 contractors who are trying to fix the sprinkler system came through our yard - all at the same time. Without any prompting from me, Rosie immediately sat down nice and square, I think she was hoping that one or more of the people would stop to pet her! Instead we had a 3 way conversation while Rosie just sat and listened. No reaction other than the smile on her face." ♥

While dogs whose temperament runs at a low threshold for frustration need long term assistance with knowing what and when is 'too much' for them (especially if sick, injured, or in environments with other elements of surprise or intensity), simple adjustments can keep their cup fuller across the board.

SO much more than just a dog walk—long-term support is what we do best! As a perk to our recurring schedules of walks, we offer FREE behavior meeting Zooms with our Certified Professional Dog Trainer and Behavior Consultants to continuously monitor and adjust your care plan. 🤓
