Elka! This girl is so special and needs a home of her own!

Elka was found running on 21st st with a broken tie out, freshly done nursing, and looked to be at least fed well but her people never came. She has been in our building on and off for 4 years. FOUR. Now, while we have a building, our dogs are out of their kennels multiple times a day and not locked up for the majority of the day. But it is still not a home.
She is about 5-6, now. She has had a couple shorter term fosters and a couple of adopters/foster to adopts that didn’t work out. She has gone to training and we are committed to keeping that trainer/new family relationship going. She also has visited our friends at the bank, where she will hang out all day and greet all the customers.
What’s her quirk? She wants to be the only animal. And she can be reactive when she sees other animals passing by windows/on walks. BUT!!!!! Our trainer is more than capable of relaying the ways to combat this, we just need a family, who is willing to do a little work. She is so worth it. And….i truly think she could be fine with the right dog…but again, would need some guidance and patience. (We are working on this part, while she with us, as well.) Baby steps.

Her adoption fee has been sponsored. And at this point, we will throw in some supplies and of course, the trainer. All covered. We just need someone to provide the patience, structure and knowledge that we all have quirks and we would have been much better off if someone had taken the time to help us through.
