Kitten season to the average person probably sounds like a glorious time: constantly reoccurring piles and piles of little fluffs. In actuality, it's an awful time: Shelters don't have enough space to match the demand. And a place with lots of cats isn't good for kittens' fragile immune system. They rush to get as many kittens out and into foster care as possible....

Understand why kitten season happens and what you can do to help animal shelters and rescues get through it.

Georgia, the kittens' mother, had an impressive first few days with me, but then she started regressing. After nearly two weeks, it was quite apparent to me that she was stressed, scared, and unhappy. In the beginning she was silent, but recently she started growling every time she heard vocalizing (even from my cats), and would hiss when I'd walk by her. She was not feral and could be touched, but she did not enjoy it. I always try petting and scratching with different pressures, trying to find something that feels good, but she would just stare at me, not blinking. The last few days, she would also walk away from me, clearly not enjoying herself at all. The right thing was to put her back outside, which honestly, is her home and likely the only home she's ever known. returned her tonight (thank you for all your help!), and she bolted out of the carrier and didn't look back. I'm sure she's happy to be free (and I'm happy she's spayed...no more lils for her). Indoor life isn't for ever cat, and when I see them shutting down and miserable, I know the Return in TNR is the right thing for them.

Scooter - Tito - Evie - These little fluffs are almost ready to get fixed and get adopted. Scooter has a home lined up but Tito and Evie still need homes. They are shy but super sweet and very playful. Love them to pieces.

Meet Scooter (black) and Tito (tabby), my new foster kittens. Their other sibling still needs to be trapped, so hopefully I get them soon. They are understandably a bit scared but are really sweet. Best Saturday Night🐈🐈

Ragu, now Ollie, is adjusting wonderfully to his new home (and brother Oscar!). He was a little swatty the first few days but calms more every day. His new mom is in love with him😍 Who could blame her?

Enjoying a few more days with my buddy before he's off to his forever home. 😍

I fostered a sweet kitten named Minnie for and I can't believe how beautiful she is an adult. She's doing amazing in her home and gets along with the people, dogs, and cat. She's very spoiled and she deserves it!
