❣️ Snoopy is safe ❣️
🐕 We received a call on Tuesday from the Brookhaven Shelter asking for help with a dog running loose for at least 2 weeks. Residents in the complex were leaving food and water out for Snoopy but he would not let anyone get close. A resident Turner got him to come out from the woods and started making a daily connection... but still not able to get close enough to secure this poor dog. 🙂 A Brookhaven ACO had a trap set and Turner was helping. That specific trap door slants down, Snoopy was too tall for it, and the trap was found in a closed position the next morning with no one in it. The door likely closed on him or he brushed against it and it loudly closed making Snoopy very leary and afraid of the trap.
🐾 Teddy went Tuesday with a large trap. After setting it all up with delicious food trailed in 🌭 Snoopy wanted no part of it. After many hours it became obvious this dog was not falling for it. ⌛️ Teddy noticed Snoopy watching so he pretended to eat the food (with a snappy snare ready). He would get really close and interested, but keep his distance just out of reach.. This went on until 3:30 a.m.
🐕 Wednesday came and Teddy, Winston and Charmaine returned. The larger trap was reset & Teddy brought Winston to try and help lure Snoopy close enough to secure him. At first Snoopy was very afraid of little Winston and would run into the woods, but after a while of Winston on a 30' long lead he kept slowly approaching Snoopy making wimpering sounds with his tail up high wagging, letting Snoopy know he was no threat. Snoopy came nose to nose with Winston and even started to play with him, tail wagging..so happy. Snoopy has been so scared for who knows how long this brief moment was very important and may pay dividends for what was going to happen the next morning. Still, he would not get close enough to Teddy to secure him.
😨 Teddy spent a very long time laying on the ground with Winston on a short lead and just when progress was made, so close ... Snoopy would back up and run into the woods. When Teddy got up and walked away - Snoopy would come out and follow him . If he turned around, Snoopy backed away - over and over again. This went on until 1:30 a.m.
🌧Thursday we had horrendous rain storms all day but we got the call we were waiting for - The rescue can bring Snoopy's sibling dog Onyx to try and lure Snoopy closer.
🌞 This morning Teddy met with the rescue, had Onyx on a short leash (with the snare open and around Onyx) Snoopy recognized Onyx and as the 2 dogs got closer and nose to nose, Teddy moved the loop past Snoopy's nose and around his neck and safely secured him! Both Snoopy & Onyx are now safe at Sav-a-Pet
😊 Thanks to Teddy Henn, Winston, Lynn Fodale, Charmaine DeRosa, Turner Brunson, Brookhaven Animal Shelter ACO's, Pam (Sav-a-Pet) and to the residents that called and helped save Snoopy.
Help us keep saving them 😊
