What would you do if a vet told you your new rescue dog only had a few months to live? If you’re Marisa Hoskins, you start a company. We recently had the chance to interview Marisa, and her story is one of the most real stories we have ever heard.
It began with Quinn, a Schnauzer from a puppy mill who was in terrible shape. Instead of accepting the grim prognosis, Marisa started cooking for him, and completely transformed Quinn’s health. That effort grew into her first business, Puppy Gang Fresh Foods, which became a beloved brand and was eventually acquired. But Marisa didn’t stop there.
After a frustrating experience moving her dogs internationally, she realized the process was broken. That led to her second venture, Paws Abroad, designed to make global pet travel easy, less stressful, and infinitely more manageable than it is now. We had a fantastic conversation, here are the key takeaways from Marisa's advice.
💥 You can’t fake it in the pet world. If customers don’t feel it, you won't make it.
💯 The best business ideas often come from problems you’ve lived yourself.
💫 In a world obsessed with automation, real empathy is a super power.
Her journey is a reminder that purpose and passion, not shortcuts, drive real success. The full interview is linked below, it’s a must-read for anyone building something meaningful in the pet industry. Have you ever turned a personal frustration into a business idea?
We’d love to hear about it below!
