Everything Fishy Same problems, Different pond. We have solutions! If water is slowed going into the filter the pipes or the filter itself may freeze.

If you have a canister filter on your pond, and we have a hard freeze coming, it is critical that the water intake going into your pump is not obstructed. Clean pump intakes, and cover the canister with some type of insulation to protect from freezing. If the pond freezes, do not hit the ice to break it. Pour a pitcher of hot water on top of the ice to make an air opening for gas exchange. The winter pond is really pretty when it snows, but it is usually pretty cold to go admire.

Help Wanted: Probably one day's work, must be able to lift heavy rock up and load on wheelbarrow to truck. I don't think any rocks weigh over 50 lbs but they are below ground level in an old pond. We go back Tuesday. Pay - about 20 an hour, plus I buy lunch. We removed the top half of these rocks today, and hauled them off, but a couple of the bottom ones are pretty big. We removed the top 18 inches of stone, have about 15 inches remaining. Probably get 8 hours pay including drive time

We did not build the pond. we've been cleaning it annually since 2014.

We'd installed a couple canister filters on it. (one at a time, when homeowner bought one to match what came with the pond) to drive the tall waterfall. Plunging sponges to clean mud out of them was not a fun task and the canister filters kept breaking.

It was one last straw on this one year old canister filter, so pump got a bypass, tall waterfall running faster than it ever has on the same old pump. and the pond got a new biofalls tucked in a corner, easy to clean, No plunging....

Spring Pond Cleanups are almost complete. If your pond needs attention we need to clean it when high temp is below 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Tips for keeping pond clean in hot weather.

1. Do not change filters, instead rinse thoroughly in cool water and put back in the biofalls or filter. Why? What keeps your pond clear are living bacteria, and a day in the sun drying out kills it all.

2. Keep skimmer unobstructed, and clean filter pad in skimmer if needed. Turn the pump off before removing pad. Use a dip net to remove any debris that got past it.

3. If pump is in the bottom, I keep mine in a guard to keep most leaves and debris out, but I do pull pump to clean its prefilter and be sure impeller is not obstructed a couple of times a year.

4. Temperature is an issue, if your water flow is good and fast, but water is going green, consider a Sun Sail over the pond. Will try to find some links to post in comments.

If these things aren't in your desirable chore list, we'll be happy to help.

Service calls for filter clean and tidy up start at $85 for relatively easy ones that one person can handle, and 2 person service calls for the larger ones start at $125.

Hint hint - makes a great father's day gift if Dad doesn't feel like doing it.

just a quick look at the project we finished yesterday. Original liner was short cut and surrounded by limestone gravel, making the pond dirtier and dirtier with each year. Owner wanted a new liner and a fresh look, when we got the gravel and river rock and cobble out, the pond was bigger. it still is. It has some rock now.

Spring Cleanups are underway. As warming spring sunshine hits ponds with lots of fish waste and leaves, the spring algae bloom is beginning. If the pond was cleaned in fall, a little hydrogen peroxide from the grocery store poured on the string should dissolve it and your filter will remove the particles. Clean filter pads in skimmer and biofalls, trim dead leaves off plants and your pond is ready to go.

If it wasn't cleaned in fall a bit more might be needed. Like a pressure washer, leaf removal, filters cleaned, gravel flush, good rinse, and refill with chlorine remover to start the year off right. Plants can be cleaned up as they come out of dormancy and your pond is fresh and clean for spring.

This pond had too much gravel added over the years. And water lilies got a bit out of control. It needed cleaned, and found. What a pleasure to find the hidden design that was lost.

Early Spring Cleanups. The dirtier the pond, the earlier we try to clean it. We can devote more time when our schedule isn't as busy. Friday - North Granbury (we do NOT go over the lake). We finished after sunset. But mud is no longer entering the pond, and it's clean

Just finished a build over in Benbrook. could not go as deep as we would have liked as the rock got thick below the clay, so we went up to get a little more depth for the fish. Before just grass.

Build almost done, break for rain. There will be some shrubs and flowerbed around the filter, maybe a bit elsewhere around the pond. Orange lines were from previous bidder. We didn't color in the lines.
