🐈 Happy Ginger Cat Appreciation Day! 🐈🧡

Today we’re celebrating all the orange-haired, big-personality, extra-special kitties who bring a little more sunshine into our lives! ☀️🐾

Whether they’re sweet snuggle bugs, mischievous troublemakers, professional nappers, or convinced they run the entire household (let’s be honest…they probably do 😹), ginger cats have a way of stealing our hearts.

🧡 Share a photo of your favorite ginger kitty in the comments and let us know their name!

From all of us at Aloha Pet and Bird Hospital, we’re sending some extra love and treats to our orange friends today! 🐾🧡

Our team traded scrubs for smocks and spent the evening at Painting with a Twist.

It wasn’t about painting perfect pictures—it was about working together, laughing through the “happy accidents,” and supporting each other every step of the way. Just like in the hospital, teamwork makes all the difference.

Please help us welcome Dr. Ron to Aloha Pet and Bird Hospital.
Dr. Ron is a Florida transplant originally from Southwest Michigan. He completed his undergrad degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Notre Dame where he was active in the marching band and runner-up for the Leprechaun mascot. He is a USAF active-duty veteran who served briefly as a student pilot before transitioning to military acquisitions where he continues to serve as a reservist. While on active duty he earned his MBA from Oklahoma State University before separating to pursue his lifelong dream of attending veterinary school at the University of Florida where he developed a fondness for emergency medicine and urgent care.
In his free time, Dr. Ron enjoys spending time with his wife, two children, and two fur babies (Marceline and Jake) as well as hiking/running, working on DIY projects, flying, and enjoying all there is to do along Florida’s coast!

Dr. Sharleen Vargas Godoy joined our team in August 2026. Originally from Caguas, Puerto Rico, she earned her bachelor's degree in Biology before pursuing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Florida. During veterinary school, she also completed certifications in Veterinary Business Management and Veterinary Forensic Sciences.

Dr. Vargas Godoy's passion for zoological medicine and veterinary pathology earned her the prestigious 2023 Michael Garner Veterinary Pathology Scholarship and the Treasure Coast Exotic Bird Scholarship. Her professional interests include wildlife and exotic animal medicine, surgery, and pathology.

One of Dr. Vargas Godoy's greatest joys is building meaningful relationships with her clients and their pets. She believes that compassionate communication and trust are essential to providing exceptional veterinary care, and she is committed to being a dependable resource for families when they need guidance and support most.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Vargas Godoy volunteers with zoos and wildlife rehabilitation organizations, where she enjoys expanding her knowledge of advanced medical and surgical techniques that she can bring back to benefit her patients. She is passionate about lifelong learning and providing the highest standard of care for animals of all species.

At home, Dr. Vargas Godoy enjoys spending time with her beloved pit bull, Aslan. She also cherishes the memory of her soulmate pet, Gimbo, who continues to hold a special place in her heart.

Gill may never know the lives he's saved—but we do. ❤️

At just 4 years old, Gill, a handsome Golden Retriever, has already become a hero. Through multiple blood donations, Gill has helped save the lives of other dogs facing emergencies, surgeries, trauma, and life-threatening illnesses. When a beloved pet needs a blood transfusion, there isn't time to wait. Having canine blood available can mean the difference between life and death.

The truth is, there is a nationwide shortage of canine blood donors. Every single donation has the potential to save up to three lives. Somewhere, a family is getting extra time with their best friend because of dogs like Gill.

Imagine receiving the call that your dog needs an emergency blood transfusion. Now imagine hearing, "We have blood available." That's the gift our blood donor dogs provide every day—a second chance, a wagging tail coming home, and more memories with the pets we love so dearly.

At Aloha Pet & Bird Hospital, we are always looking for new canine heroes to join our blood donor program. If your dog is:

Young and healthy
50 pounds or more
Has a calm, friendly temperament

We would love to talk with you about whether they may qualify to become a blood donor.

If you're interested in learning more, please email [email protected] for additional information.

Gill doesn't ask for recognition. He just shows up, gives a little, and helps another dog get the chance to grow old with the people who love them most. We think that's pretty extraordinary.

Because sometimes, the greatest superheroes have four paws and a golden heart. 🐾❤️

It's National Pet Fire Safety Day!

Our pets are family, so don't forget to include them in your emergency plans!

A few simple steps can help keep your furry family members safe:

• Keep collars and ID tags on and up to date.
• Place a pet alert sticker on a window or door so first responders know pets are inside.
• Keep leashes, carriers, and emergency supplies in an easy-to-grab location.
• Have an evacuation plan that includes all of your pets (yes, even the cat hiding under the bed!).
• Never leave lit candles unattended around curious paws and wagging tails.

Did you know that pets can accidentally start fires by knocking over candles or turning on stovetops? Taking a few extra precautions today could make all the difference in an emergency.

Take a few minutes to review your family's fire safety plan and make sure every member—two-legged and four-legged—is included!

Stay safe, and give your pets an extra treat today for being such good emergency preparedness partners.
