Stable Riding

Stable Riding The Stable Riding System is for Real World Riding. Home of the Riding LAB πŸ’ͺ We believe all riders deserve to Ride More and Fall Less 😎

The Stable Riding System is a practical real-world riding system. Traditional riding instruction is based on the show and competition ring. This appearance-based instruction leaves riders unstable. Stable Riding is for all riders, taking into account the rider's individual body type and height. We are home of the Riding LAB, a dedicated space filled with specialty tools for riders to train on. The

se include Equicizers, a Home horse and Mighty Bucky. Riders travel in from all over the US and CA to take multi-day rider intensives both on our horses and in the LAB, many are preparing for the world's longest horseraces. The Mongol Derby and Gaucho Derby.

Rider Intensive : Stephanie Day 2!

The set up for day 1 was such fun, which was the main goal Stephanie had…we decided to do it all again!

So back go the park we hauled and with a new set of horses and riders Stephanie had some more canter and galloping sets to really enjoy herself but also participate in some open source learning and via reps sit even better and better in her saddle πŸ™‚

Post lunch Solange and Stephanie spent time playing with more in-depth ground exercises to help her control her lateral weight distribution both in the saddle and out.

Everything we do in our riding physically should help our bodies out of the saddle, so often we work out to ride better, which is an important thing!

But often we do not consider the effect our riding position has on our out of the saddle bodies.

Riding should help us feel Better. Not worse! What brings us joy should not cause us pain, and riding with pain is always a symptom of a tack choice or a skeletal position fault.

We closed out the day on Floyd really settling into his sitting trot and much to Stephanie’s delight she was able to start to access her weight aids and have a higher response from Floyd!

A wonderful representation of the motion break thru Stephanie has during her 2 days and proof that you do not have to sacrifice progress for enjoyment!

Amazing work Stephanie, we had so much fun helping you have fun!

Since Stephanie and Solange work together often they had plenty of time to plan out what kind of intensive experience Stephanie was looking for and the answer was easy : FUN!

Stephanie wanted to spend a portion of each of her intensive day at the park on a trail-ride with the Fabulous Miss Tulip and some of her Stable Riding Barn Family.

Thankfully the weather gods smiled on us and Day one was a perfect trail day.

They started in the LAB on the home horse who Stephanie lovingly calls β€œhomie” this tool in particular makes a big difference in Stephanie’s back and hips mobility. Starting there on that tool and allowing her back and hips to slowly and incrementally unlock and warm up was the perfect place to start.

We loaded up some horses and riders and headed 5 mins down the street to our local metro park and bridle path. On the way out, Solange was able to ride behind Stephanie and guide her through some of the movement exercises they had practiced in the LAB earlier to help her find even weight in both her seatbones. Then on the way back Solange pulled over and filmed the group galloping past so Stephaine could appreciate really how far her sitting canter had come!

One back home at the farm, after a lunch break Stephanie requested FLoyd to tune in her sitting trot on. As always the luxury of an Intensive is TIME! So they were able to take as many walk laps as they wanted going thru an entire lateral body mobility and weight distribution exercise set before moving into that sitting trot.

Stephanie said it was the best she ever felt in her sitting trot! A Personal Best!

Day two is loading up here on Social Media tomorrow.

Rider Intensive Story : Stephanie

Stephanie first came to Solange and Stable Riding for the Rider LAB and its tools. Stephanie has both a Complex Rider History as well as a Complex Body History!

Stephanie has a Cerebral Palsy diagnosis that affects the left side of her body, especially her left leg and foot. She has also been riding since childhood and is now an adult in her mid 30s. So she has ridden many horses and had many different instructors and trainers.

She came to the LAB in March of 2024 to experiment with her bodies range of motion safely on the Equicizer, mainly because she was not as stable in her sitting canter as she wanted to be.

Very early in her LAB sessions she felt a difference in her back and hips, the combination of the Equicizer and the Home Horse started to unlock Stephanie’s back in a way she had never been able to access before.

Within a few months of being in the Stable Riding System Stephanie booked herself a One Day Rider Intensive with both Solange and Martial Equestrian.

She had such a blast working with Solange and Cain she immediately decides to have another intensive in 2025 but this time…2 days!

For many decades fox-hunting was a huge part of Solange’s horse life. All those hours traveling at speed on varied terrain on many many different horses gave her the experience in her own body to help create the Real World Riding curriculum which became the Stable Riding System 😎

Last week her home hunt of Rocky Fork Headley, allowed her to come down to their hound walk and bbq to present a Stable Riding Demo 🀩

She brought 2 Equicizers, Winston and Rex. Both are named after beloved hunt mounts plus the usual mirrors, sticks and the Marvelous Myia ❀️

Lots of Foxhunters hopped on and had their stability check and were able to chat with Solange about their horses and the unique riding challenges you find in the hunt field πŸ’ͺ

Thanks to John and Myia for snapping great pics πŸ“Έ

Solange and Sue met last year at the Massachusetts Equine Affaire, Inc. (Official) event 😎

After seeing Solange teach one her clinic she came to her and asked about a clinic at her Lincoln Pony Pals farm in Maine.

They set the date for May and then Solange flights got canceled 😭

They reset the day for July and this time it worked!

Sue brought in Icarus, a local Equicizer for the clinic. This was awesome! Solange started each session on Icarus, giving stability checks and demos πŸ’ͺ

This was our favorite kind of Stable Riding Clinic! A true All Rider Clinic πŸ‘

We had new riders and veteran riders!
Tall riders and short riders!
Western riders and English Riders!

Plus an incredible amount of food 😍

Day 1 was all deep seat positions πŸ’ͺ
Day 2 was all light seat positions 🀩

Thank you to Sue for organizing such a wonderful event πŸ™

Thank you to the riders for coming, learning and having fun πŸ™

Thank you to all the wonderful horses for letting us boop their snoots πŸ‘ƒ

We will see you all again in 2026 πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ₯³
