This dog was found at Jackson Lake State Park Campground on July 3. I have taken her home and am hoping to reunite her with her family.

DON'T FORGET! With the heat wave on the way, you CANNOT leave your pets unattended in the car. Cracking the windows does not help the situation. Within a short amount of time, the inside of your vehicle will heat to a level that becomes dangerous and even deadly.

Once again we need to remind people the Humane Society of Jackson does not have a shelter and cannot take in animals. We have posted this many times. We receive as many as 20 calls a day or more wanting us just to take animals. We have posted previously that we will not return calls about taking in animals.

Our small group focuses on spay/neuter and assisting with stray or injured animal vet care if funds are available. We are unpaid volunteers who work solely on fundraisers and donations.

We met with city officials several years ago in Wellston about the benefits of a TNR (Trap, Neuter & Release) program and offered our assistance but explained it would take a lot of volunteers to help us. There are grants available. The idea was shot down. One individual stated it would just be cheaper to shoot cats. We explained TNR is not a quick fix but there would be long term results.

We have been sponsoring Rascal spay/neuter clinics for almost 20 years. The scheduling is a nightmare. We have limited spots for each clinic. We call people who have signed up straight down the list. Right now we have over 400 on the list. People are called back to schedule and a lot of times calls are blocked or they don't bother to call us back. On clinic surgery days we have people who no show and don't bother to call and let us know they aren't coming. We could have put other people in their spots. There have been a lot of times we have had to pay Rascal out of our funds just to meet Rascals guaranteed costs for coming because we did not meet the quota because of no shows.

ONCE AGAIN WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING CALLS FOR REQUESTS FOR US TO TAKE ANIMALS.

This is Oscar. His family recently relocated from the Thurman area to Broad Street, Jackson. He has been missing since Monday. If anyone sees him or has him please let us know so we can get him back to his family.

Did you know a Box turtle only roams 1 mile its whole life? If it is removed from its area/home then for the rest of its life it will roam aimlessly stressed out... trying to find "home" until it dies a very sad death.

Please do not remove turtles. Do not take them home as pets. If one is injured please mark the exact spot found for the wildlife center. If a turtle is in the road you can help by moving it directly across the street in the direction it was heading. Thank you!

I post this every few month because it's not really known. Many people think it is harmless to let their children take home a docile turtle to play with and release it someplace they see appropriate. I was once that kid. Please share the knowledge.

The Rascal Clinic scheduled for May 9 has been rescheduled to May 16th. We have a list of over 400 animals to schedule at this time. We will begin scheduling animals for the May 16th clinic 7 to 10 days prior to that date. We go straight down the list to schedule.

If you had already called to sign up please do not keep calling and leaving messages checking to see when you are scheduled. We can only schedule one clinic at a time and cannot tell you a date if you are further down the list. Please try to be prompt in returning any message we leave you about scheduling.

At this time we also need to say we cannot have anyone else sign up for this year. It is going to be difficult to even get the over 400 already signed up in this years clinics.

If you have male cats that need neutered Sierras Haven located between Lucasville and Portsmouth offers a once a month neuter day on Sundays for $30

Also Purrfect Companions Cat Resource Center in Chillicothe offers cats only vouchers for sale for $40 for spay or neuter both for their Rascal Clinics or to be used at a local Chillicothe vet.

We are selling the voucher for this event
on Sunday April 13th from 1-3
(Must have the voucher to come to the event)
~~Come to 80 N Mulberry -- $40 per cat, please bring exact change-Cash only - No Limit on how many vouchers you can buy
~~YOU MUST be the owner of the cat to participate as there are several detailed forms that must be completed.
~~No Children and only one person per family due to limited space for sign up.
~~Do Not bring the cat on the 13th this is just the day to come get the voucher & pay the $40 per cat
~~Please bring extra cash as we are selling easter candy to help support this event.
