“Pancreatitis:
Pancreatitis is inflammation of the pancreas, often caused by the release of these enzymes prematurely or in excess.

Fat and Enzyme Release:
When a dog eats a high-fat meal, the pancreas is triggered to release a large amount of digestive enzymes, which can worsen the inflammation and damage during pancreatitis.

Resting the Pancreas:
A low-fat diet helps "rest" the pancreas by reducing the amount of fat it needs to digest, thus decreasing the demand for enzyme production and potentially allowing the pancreas to heal.

Long-Term Management:
While a low-fat diet is crucial during an acute episode of pancreatitis, it's important to note that long-term, the focus might shift to a diet that is low in carbohydrates, as they can also trigger insulin release, which can put stress on the pancreas.

Other Dietary Considerations:
In addition to a low-fat diet, other dietary factors, such as easily digestible proteins and smaller, more frequent meals, may be recommended to help support the dog's recovery and prevent future flare-ups.”
