Sorry for not sharing this sooner.

Yesterday was a bit of a somber day, as when daddy Mitch went out to feed everyone, he found our sweet Sterling had crossed the rainbow bridge.

Sterling is one of the Barrington 8 pigs that had been abandoned in a field, locked in a cage with no food, water or shelter in March of 2021. Cold, scared, hungry and thirsty, her and her herd were rescued and brought to Zena's Animal Rescue & Rehab for much needed vet care and love.

The Barrington pigs were then moved to here to Betsy's Barn while their momma Kym Olson deals with her own medical situation.

No one knows there story, how old they are or where they came from, but we all believe they may have been part of a testing facility. They by no means act or behave as a normal pig.

Sterling did end up with a mass, that was removed and she spent the next few years living her best life!!

Gone before her are her herd mates Anastasia, Godzilla and Lady Ambrosia.

Rest in peace Sweet Sterling knowing you are loved by many and will be dearly missed.

I almost forgot to add this as I am so sad about Sterling.

We will be getting her cremated as we did with her siblings. If anyone would like to help cover her cremation we would really appreciate it.

Okay "mother nature", we have had enough of the bull****. We have now received enough rain for the summer. Our lots are completely flooded again, building are full of water from the winds and we are out of options for places for pigs. Recently we moved some pigs around due to flooding and now their new areas are flooded.

Well, the animals all survived thankfully from the storms last night however, our tree down by the horse donkey and Mule pen came down. Thankfully, not in any of our beloved four legged animals, but looks like we have cleanup to do in the mist of all the rain, puddles, and more rain expected today and off on through the rest of the week. The tree is old but a beauty when we first moved to the property. I couldn’t get the pumps turned on cause we were without electricity for a while this morning.

Edit, added different fan.

Okay, folks, which one of you 6,000 supporters want to send us 7 of these solar powered fans. We need to get these solar powered ones due to not having electricity to 7 barns. Plus solar powered fans will help reduce our electricity usage.

Also, any solar powered lights would be used also.

Thank you all for the support

We decided it was time for Zues to move out. He's made quite a mess in the barn so it needs to dry up a lot so we can clean it out and do a full re-vamp in there.

Edit: We now see that PayPal is taking $.51 of each $1 donation. So we added an option for $2/month. Otherwise, you can use VENMO and find our account at Betsys-Barn2017.

Pua wants to thank everyone for helping us get our funds for the feed order. Yes, we know she is buried in the mud due to the non-stop rains. This is why we are creating this post. Mitch and Charissa have been working non-stop at moving pigren around due to all this mud. She's here looking adorable with all her muddy belly asking for as many followers as we can, to get on our monthly subscription. We currently have 6,000+/- followers, which means if even half, 3,000, would go and setup our easy to use $1/month. It's all done through our website and will automatically take out the $1 and you have nothing to worry about. Just $1/month would help us so much more then you all know. Below is the website link to visit.

We also discovered that there is someone pretending to be Betsy's Barn on PayPal.

We want to make sure that everyone knows that our PayPal account is [email protected]. It should come up as mcmacres as the username. A lot of folks have missed the"s" [email protected]

Thank you all for the continued support but we cannot keep up if we do not start getting more support.

Our Story

Betsy's Barn Pig Rescue is a 501c3 organization operating as a non profit organization specifically dedicated to promoting and supporting the rescue & care of mini pigs and other farm animals by providing the compassion, commitment and companionship they deserve. Like many others, one day at a local fair I bought a pot belly piglet because she was cute. She was feisty and did not want anything to do with human interaction, except for the dachshund, Brandi, who thought it was her baby. We named her Betsy. Everyday, was a new adventure with her learning, laughing, and loving. We soon decided we wanted to help out more so we decided to adopt. That’s when Bootsy and W***y came into our lives. And I guess you can say this is how we got started. Knowing the need for a place for unwanted animals, not just mini pigs, even though that is our main focus.

Our mission is to provide education to the public on humane treatment of animals, rehabilitate those that are neglected or abused, and re-home those that are adoptable. To provide a place of refuge for those animals in need.

We are always in need for volunteers to come and socialize with our residents, help with barn duties, and help with projects. If you are interested in volunteering, please reach out!
