Hope For Horses To improve the quality of life and end suffering for at-risk horses in Western North Carolina We work with animal control groups in several WNC counties.

Hope for Horses is a non-profit equine rescue located in Leicester, NC. Hope for Horses was established in 1998 to provide permanent placement alternatives for the equine population of Western North Carolina. The need became more apparent as more and more horses were left abandoned, neglected and abused. Hope for Horses was given life largely due to the services of Dr. Ann Stuart and Dr. Ted Wrigh

t of Appalachian Equine Veterinary Service, located in Weaverville, North Carolina. Their never-ending support provides the necessary medical care for horses donated to the program. The additional support of approximately sixty-five dedicated volunteers and numerous local contributors enables this dream to continue. Hope for Horses also offers solutions for equine owners in need of help through our HorseMatch Program. Many of these horses are in excellent condition, but in most cases due to their ages or certain limitations and their owners are just wanting good homes for them. While we believe there is a time and a place for euthanasia, we are steadfast in our belief that every horse deserves a safe and happy retirement whenever possible.

❤️Buddy update!❤️
It sure is amazing to see what a few weeks of a proper diet, veterinary care and a whole lot of TLC will do for a neglected horse. He’s starting to show us his true spunky personality and most of all he’s appreciating the attention and love that our amazing volunteers give him!

Welcome to the farm sweet no named boy…now named Buddy❤️

Meet Buddy! This sweet guy was dumped in a pasture at night a few days ago out in Madison county and found in the morning by the owners of a well loved herd of horses. They’ve reached out for our assistance so that we can give him the proper care and love that it takes to get a horse with his body score back to health. We will do our very best! Unfortunately it is always a risk when they get this bad and the feed back program is slow, small amounts and frequent.

🙏🏽Please if you are able to help us help Buddy we could use some support. 🙏🏽

🌟💙Meet Bana!💙🌟

Bana is a youthful 27 year old, Arabian gelding. He is great in any herd, gets along with mares and geldings. He is a handsome guy and enjoys a big romp in the field from time to time. He is easy to handle and very friendly. He is sound and good on grass. He does need upkeep with hay and feed as he is a harder keeper.
He would love to be a companion horse and live out his next chapter with a sweet old buddy.
Do you have a pasture in need of a big handsome, sweet, gelding that wants to steal your heart? ❤️

Please consider your 4 legged neighbors this 4th of July🇺🇸🎆

July 4th may light up our skies...but for thousands of horses across the U.S., it’s a night of panic, injury, and even death. In this video, we uncover:- Why...

❤️

The rescue horse.

We all know them...

The ones we were never meant to have.

The abandoned...

The broken...

The unrideable.

The ones that no longer tick all the boxes.

They come into your world when you least expect it...

And they change every inch of your being from that moment on.

You will sit with them.

You will watch them.

You will show them love...

Compassion...

And patience.

You will build trust.

You will show them that you want nothing more from them other than to just be in their presence.

Then...

Ever so slowly...

You will see the light return to their eyes as their soul becomes alive again.

And you will stand in awe as their majestic presence grows.

The sheer joy of watching the wind blow thru their mane will take your breath away...

Every.

Single.

Time.

And then one day..

You will just realise...

That the rescue horse is now your companion horse.

They know all your secrets...

See all your tears...

And they are your strength when you cant be theirs.

Some will still say that you rescued them...

But the reality is...

They rescued you🌿

🦄🥰Meet Granny!🥰🦄

Granny is a young 31 year old lady. She is sound, an easy keeper, on no meds and very youthful for her age. She was one of the many starvation/neglect horses that came into us from a local “trail” farm in Haywood county. Her current home was hit very hard from Hurricane Helene, so she came back to us. She has earned her retirement and enjoys, treats, snuggles and a good grooming. She and Cookie are good friends, although she does well with all her herd mates. Do you have room in your pasture and heart for this super sweet lady? ❤️
