Pickles being diagnosed with a brain disorder and passing away at 8 years old was never something I'd imagine.

I am so blessed that I work at a facility of amazing doctors who were able to see Pickles right away whenever she needed, and I understand that not everyone has that opportunity.

However, my hospital is NOT a specialty hospital. When trying to get an appointment with a neurologist on Long Island, there is only ONE hospital with a *board certified* neurologist, wait time was over a month out, and costs were easily $5k+🤯

This led me to seek care out of state. It was more cost effective and I was able to be seen right away.

This journey with Pickles made me realize how much room there is for growth when it comes to research, education, diagnosis and treatment of brain disorders in dogs. It is what inspired me to start 💜

I miss her so much everyday but I know there is a greater purpose for this and for her story to be shared🫶🏼

Millie's parents get a 10/10 for coat maintenance🤩🤩

Millie is an ACTIVE puppy - playing in the yard🌳 attacking the sprinklers💦 and chasing squirrels🐿️

But this is proof that you CAN have the best of both worlds if you're committed. Active puppy 🫱🏻‍🫲🏽 full coat!

In order to achieve this you need to brush and comb at home and have your dog on a regular grooming schedule at least every 4-6 weeks.

To shave or not to shave? 🤔✂️

Despite the myth, a dog's coat isn't what regulates their body temperature🙅🏻‍♀️ Dogs cool themselves through panting and circulation!

Shaving isn’t harmful, but it should be based on a dog's individual needs. A dog's coat protects them from the elements, so shaving them shouldn't be the go to if it's not necessary.

1️⃣ De-shed
2️⃣ De-shed & underbelly shave
3️⃣ Full body shave (leaving some hair)

Things to keep in mind:
▫️ Hair regrowth can take YEARS in some dogs
▫️ While the undercoat continues to grow despite the guard hairs not coming in, the coat can looked "damaged" or "ugly"
▫️ Dogs that are overweight, older, or have medical conditions can have a harder time regulating their body temperature in the heat
▫️ Your pet's health should ALWAYS come before aesthetics

Get to know me!

Hey👋🏼 My name is Brittany and I'm 31 years old. I have been working professionally in the pet industry since 2013.

I have worked at multiple dog daycare and boarding facilities and have experience in managing off leash play groups, understanding dog body language, basic obedience, feeding and medicating, customer service, and more.

I have been the general manager and outreach specialist for large scale dog daycare and boarding facilities. Currently I work part time as a CEC (customer experience coordinator) for an amazing emergency vet🏥

I have been grooming on the side on and off since ~2018/2019. I currently specialize in short coated dogs, giving them the proper grooming care they need and deserve! 🫧

I am certified in pet first aid & CPR, basic obedience, pet hair & skin and advanced hair & skin ( ), and dog grooming.

I love working in the pet care industry. My passion is continuing my education in all areas and sharing that knowledge with pet parents and other pet professionals.
