“Cats, Coffee or both?” We offer delicious handcrafted coffee and artisian snacks. You can enter the Cat Lounge to spend time with adoptable cats (online reservation strongly recommended, especially on weekends and holidays). We are located at 1315 Shelby Street, Suite 1, Indianapolis, IN, 46203, two blocks south Fountain Square’s “Fountain.”
We offer a variety of handcrafted espresso and non-coffee drinks, each one made to order. Our locally sourced food and pastry options include vegan and/or gluten-free options from the popular vegan bakery Sea Salt & Cinnamon. The most popular drink items include the Café Meow (a honey and cinnamon latte) and our delicious Chai Latte. All drinks are available in “kitten” (12 oz.) or “cat” (16 oz.) sizes.
Walk into a room - of up to 12 cats! You can interact with cats, study, knit, read, or just experience cats. You may also eat and drink in the cat café lounge.
From all walks of life - loving cats
We see cat lovers from so many walks of life, including Indy 500 race teams, students, travelers who miss their cats at home, and people of all ages. Some people, for a variety of reasons, cannot live with a cat, but want to enjoy them just the same. Although all of the cats are adoptable, you can just come and enjoy feline interaction! If you are allergic to cats, you can observe our cats through the glass windows on the café side.
History - 500 cats adopted in 3 years
Nine Lives Cat Cafe started as a father/daughter project centered on their shared love of cats. Several years ago, they have traveled to various parts of the world and found the cat café to be a cool concept for their project; they then created the first cat café in Indiana. Since then, they have built a regular customer base and have helped the Humane Society of Indianapolis by helping more than 500 cats find their forever homes.

Do you need a reservation? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Walk-ins are always welcome, but reservations are highly recommended due to the 12-person maximum capacity limit in the cat lounge. Where are we? - Fountain Square!
Fountain Square, located on the southeast side of downtown Indianapolis, is known as one of the most exciting districts in the entire US! HDTV’s “Good Bones” has renovated many houses in the area and people are moving in!
If you are coming from downtown Indianapolis, it’s a 5-minute drive southeast on Virginia Avenue. You will pass the “fountain” and, after two blocks, you will see us on your left. You may park on Shelby Street to the south of our café, or on Orange Street. If you are coming from the south, turn from Raymond St. to Shelby St, and you will see us across from Goodwill.
