We would like everyone to meet, Jake Mills!
We are very excited to have him join our team as a beginner riding instructor. Hillary has known Jake for more than 10 years and watched him grow up in the Portage County 4H program. He spent the summer showing with us and getting to know the style of our farm, some of our students and the core beliefs that we have that keep our riders safe while having fun.
Over the years, he has worked with a wide variety of breeds and disciplines, with a primary focus on Arabians and Half-Arabians. He has done everything from saddleseat, hunt seat, western to contesting! He is well rounded and will be a great addition to our team.
While stationed in California during his active-duty military service, he volunteered his time helping riders build confidence and develop their skills, working with ponies, Quarter Horses, gaited horses, and Thoroughbreds. Though he values the experience of working with many breeds, his heart remains with Arabians and Half-Arabians.
In addition to his equine pursuits, Jake has established a strong professional foundation in healthcare and military service. He holds an Associate of Applied Science degree and is currently pursuing a degree in Nursing. He works as a Nursing Assistant in a local hospital and serves as a Hospital Corpsman in the United States Navy Reserve. With nearly seven years of service—including four years of active duty—Jake has gained leadership experience overseeing medical readiness, training, and mentorship.
His diverse background in horsemanship, healthcare, and the military reflects a lifelong commitment to service, teaching, and personal growth.
We are very excited to have him on our team and look forward to watching him shape young riders into horsemen!
