Many thanks to everyone who donated for Woogie's care. We are so very sad to report that his illness turned out to be distemper. With the help of your donations, we made sure he received all the medical evaluation and care possible as we awaited test results.

Distemper is a painful disease that damages an animal's nervous system. This damage is usually permanent. Woogie experienced severe nerve damage resulting in seizures and constant whole body tremors. When distemper was confirmed, there was no option but to let him go, as his veterinary team urged.

We have turned Woogie's case over to law enforcement. Woogie died because of someone illegally selling puppies in public. When we see dogs in poor condition being sold on the street, our instinct is to buy one to "rescue" it. DO NOT!!!! Please know that if you do this, you are making it possible and profitable for these sellers to stay in business. More dogs will suffer and maybe die because of it. You may also be putting other pets in your home and maybe even your own health at risk.

The only way to stop this is by calling animal control immediately, not by purchasing a dog. If you are near a seller, call 911 from a safe spot and ask for animal control. If you have first hand knowledge (not rumors or hearsay) of an irresponsible breeder with dogs housed in distressing conditions, call that location's law enforcement or animal control.

Woogie never got to destroy his person's favorite shoes or make his great escape out the front door. He won't get the chance to comfort his person after a bad day or sit in the sun and just be. He'll never get hooked on pup cups or enjoy being a crotchety old man. Woogie took his trip over the rainbow bridge far too soon. Woogie deserved a chance at a full life. For Woogie, let's make it stop!

Meet Jenny and Forrest a bonded pair. They were sprang from a Texas shelter and brought to Colorado for rescue. We don't have any back information on them but they are a sweet duo.

Jenny is fawn 2 years old and 16 lbs. Her love language is cuddles and pets. She is also very affectionate with her people.

Forrest is black with white markings on his chest and front paws. He is about 2 and a chill dude. Forrest just likes hanging out and sitting with you on the couch. He loves playing fetch and smelling all the smells in the yard.

Both Jenny and Forrest are good with kids, other dogs, on a leash, house trained and in a crate. They have not had interaction with cats during our care but with proper introduction we believe they would be ok.

If you'd like to apply to adopt this bonded pair Jenny & Forrest, please submit your adoption application by visiting our website. https://copugrescue.org/adopt-a-pug/

If you already have an application on file with us, please email the adoption coordinator. You would have received an email from them confirming receipt of your application at the time of submission.

Woogie, a Colorado Pug Rescue foster pug, is hospitalized with several very concerning symptoms. He is in an oxygen chamber and receiving fluids and medications as we await test results. Although Woogie's future is uncertain right now, his wagging tail still works and he hasn't lost that pug appetite. Here is a donation link if you wish to help with Woogie's hospital expenses. Payment options are Venmo, Apple Pay, and debit or credit cards. Prayers and positive thoughts are also welcome!

Meet Bon Chien 🥰

Bon Chien is a beautiful pug mix that came to us after her person passed away. We believe she is about 10 years old. In the words of her foster home, “she is an interesting friend.” In her old age she does not enjoy cats or children. A home with a welcoming dog friend is best and a human that is willing to snuggle with her at her pace. She does like to cuddle, but it does take time for her to get comfortable to a new routine. Bon Chien will need patience and a willingness to work with her getting acclimated. This will be essential to her success at settling in. She is house-trained, but with a new environment there could be an occasional oopsie although rare.

If you'd like to apply to adopt Bon Chien, please submit your adoption application by visiting our website. https://copugrescue.org/adopt-a-pug/

If you already have an application on file with us, please email the adoption coordinator. You would have received an email from them confirming receipt of your application at the time of submission.

Introducing Sophie! 🥰

Sophie is an adorable 10 year old pug mix. She is a special lady looking for a special home. Sophie has mobility issues and cannot walk far or fast, and cannot do stairs. She still loves to go on walks, so her foster family brings a wagon on walks to put her in once she is done walking. With these issues, she needs to be taken out on a regular basis to go to the bathroom. Accidents have been minimal and occurred while she was adjusting to her new foster home.

Sophie is great with kids and loves to be around people. She will cry when she is left alone, but does not do it for long. An ideal home for her would have someone at home most of the day. She is friendly with other dogs, but her foster home is not aware how she is with cats as they do not have one. Her foster home has a dog that tries to steal her food, so she barks at him a lot. She does not bark at the other dog in the home, so we think her barking is isolated. Sophie is current on all of vaccines and has an eye that requires daily eye drops, which she takes like a champ. Sophie is a sweet little lady that draws so much attention from everyone that passes by her.

If you'd like to apply to adopt Sophie, please submit your adoption application by visiting our website. https://copugrescue.org/adopt-a-pug/

Hi Pug Lovers! Meet Frank!

This pug is the sweetest boy and will melt your heart. He was relinquished by a family who loved him very much but had to give him up due family considerations. This middle-aged boy is healthy, active and loves walks. He may be 8-years old but you would never know it, he loves to run around with his foster sisters. He gives sweet kisses and loves snuggle-time with his humans. He’s tall and big but not chonky, but like all pugs he can’t be free-fed or given too many treats or he will be.

Frank loves everyone and everything. He’s good around cats, other dogs and kids, but older children are probably best, he can get nervous in chaotic environments or in large crowds. He has lived in a quiet country setting for majority of his life, so inner-city or condo life might not be a good fit for him. He knows how to use a dog door and takes his house patrol duties very seriously, but the barking is minimal.

Frank is just about perfect, but a prospective family should know that he has those pesky allergies that are common in Pugs. He has both environmental and food allergies. He needs to be on Apoquel during the spring and summer months. In the winter his allergies aren’t so bad if he is on a special diet, otherwise he needs to stay on the Apoquel year-round. His former family did an amazing job developing a home cooked meal recipe and his foster mom (who doesn’t like to cook) has found a few specialty dog foods that might work in the winter months, but hard to tell while he is on his meds. This will need to be an ongoing consideration to avoid bad infections that will develop on his belly, paws, and ears.

Frank is very social and would do best in a home with other dogs and/or with those who work from home or are retired. He’ll be a great companion and a constant shadow-of-love.

If you'd like to apply to adopt Frank, please submit your adoption application by visiting our website. https://copugrescue.org/adopt-a-pug/

Meet Mila and Milo

Mila and Milo are an adorable bonded pair of pug-chihuahua mixes, weighing in at 8 & 10 lbs. and 5 months old. These two are inseparable and full of personality! Mila is the spunky big sister, a sweet little firecracker with energy to spare. She’s also Milo’s devoted caretaker—she sleeps with her head over his, keeps him clean, and always keeps an eye on him. Milo, the smaller of the two, is full of playful charm. Don’t let his size fool you—he’s always up for a game of wrestling and loves to tackle Mila in their playful bouts. He’s got a silly streak and plenty of energy, but he also enjoys his cozy naps and quiet cuddle time. Both pups are incredibly affectionate and love being snuggled. Whether it’s curling up on your lap for a movie night or following you around the house, Mila and Milo are happiest when they’re close to their people. Raised in a home with four adolescent boys and three other dogs, they’re well socialized and would thrive in a family environment with kids or other dogs. Their sweet, silly antics bring daily smiles, and they’re sure to fill any home with laughter, joy, and endless love. Adopting Mila and Milo means gaining two devoted companions who will bring happiness to your home every single day.
