Meet Sam

Sam is a very spunky high energy pug/chihuahua mix or Chug. She is estimated to be about 1 years old.

Sam is very submissive to humans. When we go to pick her up, she'll lay down on her back and show you, her belly.

Sam loves to run around and likes her stuffed animals. When she comes in the house, she likes to explore for a little bit then find a lap to lay on and relax the rest of the night.

Sam is good on a leash, does well with baths, is good in places with a lot of people, kids and other dogs. It’s unknown how she does with cats.

Meet Shadow

Shadow is about 2 yrs old. He is very timid at first but once he warms up, he likes to cuddle and play with his toys.

Shadow gets along with other dogs and unknown how he does with cats. He needs a little help on a leash but surprisingly does great with baths. Shadow doesn't really like large crowds or to be around and a big group of people. He will shut down and then likes to be held for comfort if he's put in that setting.

Shadow is a little shy when first settling into a new environment or home. The first 2-3 days he might find a corner to hide in while he adjusts to his new surroundings. He is not recommended for homes with smaller kids due to him not being fond of or comfortable with the rapid unpredictable movements towards him while he's trying to adjust to his new home.

Meet Rupert

Rupert is a 10 yr old boy who enjoys sleeping, snuggling, and playing! He comes from a loving family who had to surrender him due to allergies, so he was well taken care of and loved for his whole life.

Rupert loves playing with other dogs, big and small, but also enjoys time snuggled into bed napping. His fur is so soft and he loves a good pet from adults and children. He is leash trained and wants to smell all the smells on a walk.

He easily learned how to use the doggie door at his foster home and will sometimes be found sunbathing on the back porch. Rupert is housetrained but will sometimes mark if he is around other male dogs (this is very rare in our experience though).

Just like a pug, his stomach is his clock and he will not hesitate to tell you it's time for dinner! He will eat anything put in front of him or that falls on the floor while you're cooking in the kitchen. Rupert also enjoys chewing on Greenies or Whimzees, and will occupy hours of time just contentedly gnawing away.

Although Rupert has not spent time in a crate at his foster home, there have been no issues with him chewing furniture or other items, and he does well when the foster family is not home. At night he is used to sleeping in his bed on the floor, but recently his foster family has allowed him to cuddle on the bed and he is really enjoying it! He is learning to use a ramp for furniture to help preserve his hips/legs which seem to not allow him to jump much any more, so being in bed with his family means he needs help getting in and out, but he has been patient.

Rupert would do well with a family who can keep him active but also give him time to relax and chill. If you have other dogs or children that would be ideal for him to get all the attention that he wants!

Meet Ted Lasso

Hi! My name is currently to be determined but my foster family calls me Ted Lasso! I am an 18 lb, 9-year-old stud muffin. I am the perfect companion to someone who loves pugs. I love walks, cuddling, sitting on your lap, eating, exploring, chewing on a bone, and barking if someone comes near our home. I am very healthy and fit. I occasionally get in an argument with my foster brother over bones or food but since I am a pug it’s not a huge deal. I never argue with my foster pug sister. I am great around adults and young children. My original owner passed away and I miss them dearly so I am looking for a new companion that will love on me and give me walks!

Meet Pugsley

If you’re looking for a dog whose equal parts snuggle bug and entertainer, consider Pugsly! This charming 22-pound, 7-year-old pug is absolutely adored by his foster family.

Pugsly enjoys his daily walks, sniffs and he’s wonderfully calm and non-reactive to everything around him. He’s great with children of all ages and gets along fantastically with his foster family’s large and small dogs—as well as their two cats. He also loves playing with other friendly dogs.

Mealtime is one of Pugsly’s favorite parts of the day, so it’s best to feed him separately to let him fully enjoy his food. He’s a big fan of chewing on bones and bully sticks, and he’s never chewed on anything inappropriate in his foster home.

Pugsly prefers having his people nearby, but he does perfectly fine free-roaming the house when they’re away. Ideally his people are not away all day. He loves car rides, attending baseball and soccer games, meeting new people, and finding cozy, warm spots to nap.

Here it is! The winners and runners up in Colorado Pug Rescue’s seventeenth annual photo contest appear on the pages of this glossy 8 1/2 x 11″ wall calendar. The calendars are $20 apiece plus tax and postage. All proceeds go to Colorado Pug Rescue for the medical care of our foster pugs.
