We take complaints very seriously. 🧐

This sweet girl was not content with her bedding situation, so blankets straight from the warmer were delivered stat. She was happy to wait patiently for her procedure after that. 😇

🤔What is FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus)?🤔

🤓FIV is an infectious disease that effects a cats immune system. It essentially makes the cat more susceptible to other viruses, bacteria, or secondary infection. However, many studies have shown that FIV positive felines can live just as long and happily as any other cat!

🤔How is it transmitted?🤔

🤓The primary mode of transmission for FIV is through bite wounds from an infected cat. Casual, non-aggressive contact, such as sharing water bowls or mutual grooming, does not appear to be an efficient route of spreading the virus. As a result, cats in households with stable social structures where housemates do not fight are at little risk of acquiring FIV infections.

🤓Many infected cats live asymptomatically their entire lives! It is recommended that these cats be indoor only kitties to reduce the risk of fighting and make great only cats!

❤️‍🩹Let's talk heartworms.❤️‍🩹

What is heartworm disease?

Heartworm is a preventable, but serious and potentially fatal when left untreated, parasite that enter your pets bloodstream after being bitten by an infected mosquito. The heartworm larvae migrate through the bloodstream to the blood vessels in the lungs where they mature and can reach lengths of 14 inches. The adult worms then damage the blood vessels, and reduce the heart’s pumping ability, resulting in severe lung and heart disease. Untreated the heartworms can live up to 7 years and cause severe damage to your pet's heart and eventually other organs, as well.

So, what does that mean for you as a pet owner?

✅️PREVENTION IS THE BEST CURE!✅️

After 3 drops of blood and an 8 minute in-house test, we can assure your pets are heartworm negative and start a monthly, or yearly, heartworm prevention as works best for your lifestyle.

In the scenario that your pet is heartworm positive, the best course of treatment will he discussed by your doctor for the best outcome for your pet.

We see, diagnose, and treat a significant amount of heartworms in our region every year and want to ensure your pets have the best, healthy life.💛

❤️‍🩹Schedule an appointment with one of our awesome doctors to make sure your pets are protected from heartworm disease!❤️‍🩹
